I think it did flooded back in xmas new year period but it did used to have 32 lanes. Rocky bowling lanes centre has been poor performance for past 3 years thats why they have reduced to 22 lanes.

Rocky Bowl wasn't flooded. A few years ago they moved 6 lanes from the street side (old blue lanes) to where the squash courts used to be beside the old red lanes to make "party lanes". I think the idea was to lease the blue lane area separate to the bowl. At present there are still 8 wooden lanes in that area but they will eventually go if someone leases the area.

Leesa, according to Rockhampton census its only have 100,000 in regional area. So how would a centre cope 32lanes in first place?

True... Rocky is not a large town however many many years ago the Rocky bowl was a popular place for social bowlers. I remember many times when one set of lanes would be full from a league whilst the other set had social bowlers. Maybe a increase in the cost of living has caused a decline in numbers over recent years. I would think that the 30 lanes had to be sustainable at some stage over the last 30 odd years or the bowl would have been closed down by now.

Not sure about the cost. At Kirwan it mostly cheap and we have 23lanes. Its completely sustainable for city of 200,000!

Matt, I think you will find that Kirwan has 24 lanes....strang to have only 23 lanes.

Matt, I think Leesa is referring to the fact that in the 'good old days', bowling centres were full to overflowing - ladies leagues took up whole centres every morning, schools took over in the afternoons and then there would be usually 2 leagues (singles/doubles followed by teams) every night.
Sadly those days are gone forever - one would like to be positive but it will take a lot of effort, money and enthusiasm to regain the former interest in our game.
