Different ball for different surface?

My current centre is closing and has wooden lanes. A fellow bowler told me he is changing to a centre with synthetic lanes and was changing his ball to suit. I had a practice on synthetic lanes for the first time today and got no turn at all. Is there any evidence to suggest a change in ball is desirable?

generally a surface changeto your current ball will help. hit it with a 500 or 1000 abralon pad and see if that is the ticket............

Thanks for the tip. I didn't need to try it because my ball got stuck in the machine and was badly scratched. The centre repaired it and restored the surface and I have been given a few clues for keeping it clean.
