Caboolture - Wednesday Night Super League - $30,000 in Prize Money - New Format​

Where: Caboolture Bowl

When: Wednesday Nights

Time: 8:00pm - 10:00pm / Sometimes 10:30pm

Cost: $25.00 per week / $10.00 Social Money

Teams: 4 person teams

Handicap: 110% of 220

Season Starts: 23rd January 2008

Season Finishes: 3rd December 2008 (46 weeks)

Toatal Prize Money: $29, 440.00 (based on 16 teams)

Scratch & Handicap: This league plays for points on BOTH Scratch & Handicap

Points System: Maximum points a team can win each game: 10 points
Total points a team can win on a night: 40 points (3 games plus overalls)
Total points an individual can win each week: 8 points

Head to Head Scratch & Handicap incl. Series: 1 point for each

Team Scratch & Handicap Series & Totoal Pinfall: 1 point for each


Format: Next year we are introducing a brand new format. The aim of this is to encourage more lower average bowlers to mix with higher average bolwers & make the competition closer & more competitive.

16 Teams - 46 Round Season

1st Round - All 16 teams will play every other team plus a positional ropund (15 weeks + Positional)

2nd Round - League divided into 2, the Top 8 & Bottom 8
A 7 week round will be bowled with the Top 8 playing each other & the Bottom 8 playing each other

3rd Round - The bottom 2 teams from the Top 8 & the top 2 teams from the Bottom 8 will change places
A 7 week round will be bowled with the Top 8 playing each other & the Bottom 8 playing each other

4th Round - All 16 teams will play every other team plus a positional ropund (15 weeks + Positional)

This makes a 46 week season.

Awards: All places from 1st - 16th & Team/ Indivdual awards will be paid in cash (Based on 2007 14th which is last will be getting $1000.00 ($250 each))

This will be strictly limited to 16 teams, so register now. A more detailed prizefund will be added at a later time. All team & individual awards work out to be $40.00 per person (This is what will be paid in 07)

Ps Don't forget the money off the board. Games bowled 270 & over can receive cash for their efforts.

Handicap: 110% of 220

I like what your trying to do Nathan and it sounds great. I hope the league can next year get back to where it was as one of the premier leagues in Queensland. I just feel however the 110% of 220 system is asking for some serious sand bagging.

I'm not bowling next year but I can tell you already with a decent amount of money at stake I would even 'manage' my average (no I'm still not bowling next year). Handicap systems are always a tricky subject, I don't think what you have proposed is the most suitable.

Maybe this far out you should take the opportunity to ask for some suggestions or proposals from other people. My suggestion 100% of 230.

This year there is only 3 bowlers over 220 or that have been able to reach 220. Andrew Drew, Brendan Meads & Lawrie Hill. This system of 110% has worked well in 07, with scratch bowlers finding it more harder to get those handicap points. So far we have 10 secured for 08. Organise your teams now.
