This is a reminder that the Bowlers World Cup is only less than two weeks away, if you were thinking about entering get your entry in now.
I have read many articles in the past 6 months talking about a tournament circuit in Victoria, well here it is. This is a genuine attempt to give bowlers in this state an opportunity to compete in a tournament other than a major one. The first one was named after my proshop Bowlers World, and I thank Warren Stewart for that, now I hope that we get the support of all the bowlers in Victoria and make this event a successful one.

Hi all,

To all the bowlers out there that wanted a circuit in VIC here it is, thanks to the people involved for the hard work.

For the circuit to continue it will require the support of YOU the bowlers.

I'm disappointed I can't attend this event due to work, but I hope that the Vic's / interstate bowlers can support this first tourny so it will continue.

Totally agree with Naralle on this one !! Everyone always says not enough tournament specially smaller ones for the guys that cant make the majors.

This one is perfect timing with nothing on until Easter so c'mon ppl get out and support it especially the locals.

The NSW Grand Prix got canned last year even when the entries seemed to be increasing and i know we are missing them up here.

C'mon guys, lets all get behind this circuit. If the bowlers of Vic do not get behind this event, the next ones may not get a run. We have all been asking why cant AMF put on a circuit like NSW has had for years (now defunct). We have all said for years that if it was run in Vic we would support it, and the numbers would be great. looking at the numbers we are well short of the based on numbers of 60 entries.
This is a circuit we have to have, and need to have, but without entries, the events will not run, and we will only have ourselves to blame.
As Dave (OTB) has said in another post, if you see something you would like changed with this series, talk to Patrick, and give him some idea's. He has run great events over the years, and if we support these events, they will become great events.
Lets show these events the same support as the Warnambool Cup gets every year.
 
My suggestions would be.

Multiple formats, not just top 14, 13 games matchplay

A reduction in price may see more entires. Something like $150, plus $50 for matchplay.

To all the recent posts regarding the Bowlers World Cup, I would like to thank all of you.

As mentioned awhile ago, there has been plenty of discussions regarding having a competitive circuit in Victoria, this isn't new it has been going on for years now, however it really hasn't been possible since the ATBA folded in 2000, mainly because we had a reduction in the amount of competitive bowlers available, in many sense of the word we have waited for them to either grow older (because they were too young) or get better (because they were not at a high standard).

Think of where most of you were 5 years ago, because this is how long it's been, sure we have had the majors, but not much in-between.

This is our chance to make it happen again, and as Lance said, this is the first one, and we can always change the next one to be whatever you want it to be, lower entry, less prize fund, different format etc.

Lets get this one off the ground and prove that we do get the support from our bowlers!!

Definitely sounds like great times ahead for Victorian bowling, provided we continue to show our support!

Maybe we could do a PBA format for matchplay - we could have the top 16 (or 8 depending on numbers) go through and have best of 7 matches (no pinfall is carried over - if you win a game, it's 1-0; first to 4 games wins) Top 8 advance to the next round and play another best of 7. Then from the semi's to the final it's a one game roll-off. Ties in a semi or a final are broken with a one shot roll-off. Obviously if we start matchplay with only 8 bowlers, we'd eliminate the process of one of the best of 7's.

Another idea is to have a step-ladder final - it's always exciting to see the lower seeded bowlers move their way up into the quarters/semis/final.

They're just some ideas - feel free to criticise, or whatever...
