    Show some bloody EMOTION

I think you mean Anna kournikova, what a honey. They want TV ratings, so the more the merrier. I have seen the American style of Golf coverage where they only show the first 5 players, I'm watching thinking I wonder how Norman is going because they don't show him, than he gets a birdie, guess...

    Show some bloody EMOTION

My god Sean, your not easy to please, just because Danielle does not jump around when she gets excited means she is too boring for you. I have known Chris Batson since the early 70's and I have never seen him get excited when he bowls, do you find him boring too. So now Danielle is on your hit...

Quite possibly the most ridiculous format of all-time - PBA

Sean I thought about your thoughts on the TOC, your thinking is that the lower bowlers should be eliminated but isn't that how a Masters event happens, I bowled in the 1981 NSW State masters and after Qualifying for the match-play I was running 9th and had to start against the top qualifier...

Quite possibly the most ridiculous format of all-time - PBA

Still apples and oranges Sean, the rest of my post is about the state of bowling in this country, WHY IS IT STUFFED? As for your concern over the format, the bowlers knew what was happening and Belmonte had to beat the 5 bowlers who out averaged him and he did, Amazing

Quite possibly the most ridiculous format of all-time - PBA

I don't know much about you Sean, but your comparing apples with oranges, you have picked out the 2 limited events of the year, after googling the Pro Tour I found they have 3000 members from 30 Countries. I'm sure you have a lot of empathy for the sport in this country as do I.I worked in...

Quite possibly the most ridiculous format of all-time - PBA

To give you some history, Professional Golf and Tenpin started in the 50's, early on they had about the same prize funds, I believe the first Million Dollar earner was a Bowler. The oldest Sporting Magazine in the World is the Bowlers Journal, one of the problems with the forward projection of...

Quite possibly the most ridiculous format of all-time - PBA

Great TV and I followed Belmonte's U Tube as he bowled each day it was great to watch. He now has as many Majors as Tiger Woods, unbelievable.

So who is the GREATEST MALE bowler of all-time?

I did have a subscription for Bowlers Journal for a while but when I sent in the renewal form with my American Express numbers it didn't arrive, at the time I had left working in Bowling Centre's. I worked for 38 years in Bowling Centre's before I left 17 years ago, I could see the writing on...

So who is the GREATEST MALE bowler of all-time?

It's all about Sponsorship Sean. In the 50's when Golf and Bowling had their Pro Tours the Prize Money was much the same but Golf got all the biggest sponsors. Just take a look at the Bowlers Journal, now I don't know if it is still in Publication, I know they did not get Advertising revenue...

Names from the past, where are they now?

Thanks for that I havn't been to QLD for a while so I don't know my way around I just assumed, probably because Carol's name comes with the post, for Animals Pro Shop, I got confused with Cheryl, like 1 and 1 make 3, sorry

John Sullivan seen him Bowl at Campelltown a few years ago at the Legends Re-Union, I bowled on the same pair and never recognised him. Others at the Re-union get together at Campbelltown, John Leo (didn't bowl was 80) Trudie Gould was still Bowling intercentre, Bob Cook made an appearence...

Names from the past, where are they now?

Ian Bradford won $250,000 on who wants to be a Millionaire, a few years ago now, I was watching the show.Peter Van Kempen the last time I seen him he told me he strained his back just putting a Ball on the return and wasn't bowling this was during the 90's at Balgowlah, never heard of him...

    No Fingers in ball?

No! If you have holes you have to use them or cover them with your hand

    Ball Drill Press For Sale

By the profile page he seems to be in Melbourne. That type of Machine I used to drill balls at Liverpool Bowl in the early eighties, it is quite unique in the fact you just rotate the cradle from thumb to fingers without removing the ball from the lock downs. willey

    Why is Tenpin bowling declining?

Robbie your opening argument hits a couple of the reasons for the decline, that being a fundamental shift in society and what they do in their leisure time. As far as equipment and lane conditions are concerned, it will not even be a factor to any bowler bowling less than 3-4 years, you could...

Ten Pin Bowling ( 4 Step Approach)

The way you bowl would be hard to change without a Coach, you cannot change on your own unless you can get hold of some Drills to practice. As far as the approach slide, maybe a Brunswick slide stick or a Sock to put over your shoe but not any old sock they do make a cover for the shoe much like...

Ten Pin Bowling ( 4 Step Approach)

Okay I seen the video, you step away on the last step, why your foot is often pointing at the wall is caused by the Worst Modern invention of Tenpin Bowling the Synthetic Approach, you are not sliding but hopping on the last step. Whilst not totally your fault you do not have your Centre of...

Ten Pin Bowling ( 4 Step Approach)

That's normal for a hooking dry lane but if it's not hooking and the lanes aren't dry than you have a problem. The easiest way to correct is with the old Dick Ritger Drills, especially the last step and release, so if you can find a level 1 coach or better they should know the Drill. willey

Does this look like this was caused by a ball defect or heat?

To me it looks like the ball has bounced out of the gutter and hit the Rake arm on a Brunswick Machine, as they have a nice straight edge exposed. This is not normal unless the Gutter is loose near the end or you have hit a Pin in the Gutter, same effect. If the Rake arm was inspected you would...

How many centres don't have a Tech these days

Well unless the Owners do have a knowledge of general Maintenance to the Machine , we know where this is headed. The 70 is a reliable Machine but needs the Dizzy clutches cleaned and lubed at least 3 monthly or they are sure to play up, than there is the yearly Maintenance of the Pits, or else...

Mayfield Bowl given the last rites

I hear on the Grapevine Mayfield Bowl is on it's Death bed, to be turned into Student Accommodation. I hope it wasn't my fault, Peter Zambelis once said to me " how come nearly every Centre you worked at is now closed " and I think back to all those Centre's I worked in; Fairfield, did close but...

Plans to build new centre in Goulburn

Loose Cannon, Griffith had a Centre built in the 80's only to close due to lack of Business, than a new one built in a different area. The old Northern Bowl closed for many years before it was re-built in the same building in the Illawarra area, now closed again. As for Astro Lanes in...

    XGames Challenge @ Superstrike

Looks good Mistagear, I like what I seen with that format. The unfortunate thing I did see, not anything to do with the X Games, is after all these years the Machines do not have the Fast Drop Rakes installed, I know they had the Kits there. They are missing out on so many games in their busy...
