    Handicaps

8 weeks is longer than optimum, with the usual cumulative average system they calculate on the first 3 weeks, so a 3 week (12 games) moving average fixes sandbagging pretty well
  2. Mistagear

    Handicaps

Averages for handicap purposes should be "Moving Average" would eliminate sandbagging and make each match more reflect the current abilities of each player/team But, that's never going to happen because once Bowling has a bad idea, it sticks to it forever

Sorry you have a problem with this Steve/Amagill. FWIW I'm trying to change Bowling for the better, profit was never the driver

According to the sports psych books I have read, the most successful sports scoring, breaks the game into smaller parts, where mini wins can be followed and engaged by both player and spectator. eg six tackles in NRL, 1/4s in AFL, 4th Down rule in Gridiron, Par in Golf or Game/Set/Match in...

Couple of things, A 12 frame points game does not offer the same opportunity to build tension and drama compared to the build up available in (points in games) and (games in sets) in a match, which can be far more engaging and entertaining. The commentators did little differently to their normal...

    Game or series ???

Jason, Just confirms how everyone is different. I'm happy to admit you are a better bowler than I am, but I dont get what you get when you say Perhaps it's my motor racing background, the most perfect practice is only practice for the "real thing" racing. I'd happily exchange a perfect practice...

    Game or series ???

I'm not driving to Shellharbour every week to bowl, but geez, wish I could find a tough house shot to bowl league. I'm using 15yo gear but still manage to score ok, despite throwing very poorly all over the place. It's ruining my game for when I need to be accurate when bowling away in...

    NSW REGIONAL TOUR

I apologize, I thought I had bowled in a couple of those in past years, but no not 2 day gigs. I hope it all does go well, I admire anyone trying to help bowling

not Shellharbour, Gosford, Maitland, Grafton ?

    NSW REGIONAL TOUR

Not meant to sound as criticism. Correct if I'm wrong, Every stop is an existing tournament ? So people do have tournaments, so the purpose of a series is to entice more bowlers. I'm all for more bowlers competing, but I dont get how the series as such, will result in more entries. I dont get...

    NSW REGIONAL TOUR

Was thinking that you're trying to entice more bowlers to enter tournaments. A series with 8 stops and spread as widely as you have, may be a deterrent to some, especially newbie's.

    NSW REGIONAL TOUR

There's a lot of road miles to bowl the whole series ? (3300 km if based in Sydney)

    Game or series ???

Neither game or series for me. I'd love bowling to follow most other sports with Win/Loss focus. 300 does nothing for me, its luck of when you start a string of strikes, (you can bowl 22 in a row and not score 300) Series is highly dependent on conditions on the day, no point being excited at...

On Nov 5th 2014 I posted "I've not seen the vision from the weekend, but prior to taping, I tried to contact members of the commentary team because, unless they totally changed the style of their comments during this match the end result would be less than what might have been possible. That...

Why is everyone so depressingly agreeable?

I understand you saying "landscape has changed" but fact is, people still like to bowl and to me, that confirms what I've been saying. We need to change and keep changing, because what bowling sport offers is not the format that will attract and keep people in our sport, we have to change...

Why is everyone so depressingly agreeable?

Get back here and bowl a tournament or three, sounds like you're having too much fun, Florida is it ?

Why is everyone so depressingly agreeable?

Cant argue with what you are saying, but we as a Sport have blamed AMF for a very long time and whilst AMF may be a major factor, they are not likely to change their direction any time soon as focus seems to now be on Fitness Centres and even less on Bowling. Meanwhile the sport continues to...

    Bowl Expo

Am considering it. Went to Orlando in 2014, made some good advances for XGames and weighing up if another visit will help my cause further.

Why is everyone so depressingly agreeable?

I dont know the event schedule, so will depend what events I could attend, but I will provide a couple of lucky-draw prizes if the stepladder is an XGames match. Would like to also film the match for Youtube if thats not a problem

Why is everyone so depressingly agreeable?

Here's why we should change Bowling. Bowling attracts sports players through the recreational play in Centres, no other sport in Aus has 100 plus promoting places working day and night, 7 days a week to attract participants to their sport. Majority of the people in Aus have tried bowling at some...
