Roy is right, I wouldn't even attempt to bowl after surgery until I had my Doctors clearance to do so. the last thing you want to do, is aggravate it, especially a hernia. Not something you should muck around with. When you do start bowling again, ease back into it, don't go full on, your body...

It doesn't say that covering the thumb hole with the palm isn't allowed, it says that it doesn't count as "Gripping". The guideline is actually to have the palm cover the thumb hole so that the unused Thumb Hole is drilled in the correct place where it should be.

I can vouch for how much fun this is, I went up to Coffs for a holiday a few years back, and went to have a go at this, lots of fun and very challenging, makes you really appreciate how easy tenpin really is... The guys at the centre are really great, they even invited me back for league later...
