Searching for Hearing Impaired bowlers

In 2007 the World Deaf games will be held in Singapore and in 2009, the Deaflympics will be held in Taiwan.

Australia presently does have a good list of bowlers who can compete at this high level.

To boost our numbers of hearing impaired bowlers we need word to get around to them that there is a National Deaf Training Squad and coaching services for hearing impaired.

Not all hearing impaired people know of these tournaments. Please, if you know af anyone who is hearing impaired, they may qualify to tryout for these teams.

They can contact me anytime on [email protected]

cheers

Hi coach,
I have been trying to find out about bowling tournaments for hearing impaired bowlers for a couple of years now as i am hearing impaired myself but as yet i have been unsuccessful in this endeavour as i live in a small town, any help you can give me here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Regards Aaron.

AUSLAN teacher

Just off the track of this thread
Ive been trying to organize an Auslan course here in Morwell Vic for a while.
I'm not hearing impaired myself but I feel there is a need for some people in the community to have these skills.
(I cannot understand why schools teach languages like Indonesian and not Auslan, seems silly to me as Auslan would be more beneficial)

Ive briefly spoken to local adult education center who where remotely interest.
Just have to find a teacher who would make the trek to Morwell for a moderate cost

Anyone know someone??

Unfortunately there are limited Auslan courses around.

I'm not sure about remote areas and I will contact our Interpreter to assist in providing more information about enrolling into a course and where the locations are.

I have replied personally to Jero95 about his request.

I'm wondering if there are any Hearing Impaired Bowlers or persons wanting to bowl in the Gippsland (Vic) area that need assistance

I don't have any formal qualifications in Coaching (will have when the powers to be decide to run a course in Vic)

But I have done and passed Level one Auslan
(Will be doing Level two soon)

Yes i am hearing impairment, my average is 197 highest score is 280, in the tournment highest average was 224 highest score is 299. Now i am retired from bowling due have had major injuries couple years ago so i wont be able to bowl again, it really sad but still love bowling very much.

Hi all,

I'm too hearing impaired. I just started bowling. At first I wasn't that serious, now serious because I enjoy it. My average score is 130 and rising from average score of 97.

I never heard of the deaflympic this year, as I will ask the deafies who might know about it. There is a deaf bowling group every second Sunday monthly.

That's shame, hopefully there will be the next one after Twain. I'm just getting better at bowling. Still learning.

Do you come to Westpoint for the deaf bowling group?
