Who's drafting for the 2009 President Shield teams

According to the rules on the TBA website, the draft applications need to be in by the 13th of February (60 days prior to the event). Although like usual once all states have completed their team selections the TBA should release an announcement in regards to a new closing date for the draft applications. Although I do believe all teams have been selected with the one exception being NT, a team who I am not even sure if they have any eligible junior bowlers who reside within the Territory.

In regards to who is drafting and who needs draft bowlers it all really does depend on NT. As it stands at the moment the following bowlers are needed or could be used

ACT - 2 girls required + 1 girl if available
TAS - 2 boys required + 1 boy if available + 1 girl if available
SA - 1 girl if available
NT - 5 boys required + 2 boys if available + 5 girls required + 2 girls if available

So if we don't have at MINIMUM of 7 Boys and 7 Girls and NT do not have any bowlers it will be interesting to see what decisions are made. We may see any of; draft applications re opened, shield applications re opened or even exemptions given for bowlers who are currently ineligible to be allowed to bowl for a team.

If the numbers are low we need to look at what is more important, 9 Full teams or NT having a team and risking sending teams away with only 5 bowlers. If it does come down to only 9 teams and we are organised an invitation could even be expressed to NZ to field a team. As for the ACT ... 3 girls would be great.

Draftees will most likely find out that they have been drafted around the 22nd , which is three weeks after all teams have rolled off

If a team drafts you, you will be called to accept the offer. So you will know before it happens, if you get drafted.

We (the ACT) already made our selections and those girls accepted
