Longest wait for 300

Just curious to know how long you all had to wait until you got your first perfect game. After 18 years of playing this wonderful sport, I finally reached that elusive 12 bagger on 3rd April 2008 at Mayfield Superstrike, NSW on lanes 11 and 12.

Game 1 - 209

Game 2 - 300

Game 3 - 200

Game 4 - 210

Series - 919

I my self threw my first 300 in practice just last Friday 28/3/08, 3 game series of 212 300 210 for 722. Funny thing is, it was after just over an hour of nothing but spare lines.

I started bowling about March 2003, & went finger tip February 2004.

I started bowling as a 13 yr old on October 2nd 1978.

I bowled my first 300 June 13th 2007 (28 years and 8 months after i started) During that time there was about two years when i didn't bowl

(Strangely, i only had to wait 5 weeks for my second 300 July 18th 2007)

I started bowling in league at start of 1971 at age 26.
I stopped bowling at the end of 1988.
In that 18 years no 300.

I started bowling again in mid 1999 and then on 17th March 2008 bowled my first 300 at age 62. I had my highest series of 767 (219,300,248)

So depending on how you want to look at it, it was 27 years of league play or 38 years after I first took up the sport to bowl a perfect game.

After waiting so long I can tell you it was a very special feeling to have finally done it.

PS
To add to the thrill, I bowled my 300 on lanes 13 & 14 at Moonah Bowl, the same pair that my son Andrew has bowled 2 of his 4 x 300's.... that must be quite unique I reckon.

Cheers

For such a talented bowler who won the old Koolfoam Queensland Cup twice, Tony "Pablo" Kelly waited around 25 years before he finally cracked 300, and that was after his tournament wins. My ol' man Adrian "KAT" Lea bowled for 26 straight years before he finally shot his first 300

I bowled my first one in practice in 1992, I'd been bowling for about 8 years.
Was one of the most shitty 300's ever, with brooklyn's, jersey-squasher's and all sort's of other crap in it.
I've honestly bowled better 150's than that since. :p
Had three more non-sanctioned 300's after that until I popped my sanctioned-300 cherry in 2002, after 18 years of bowling.

Norm Green went close to 30 years before shooting a 300 a few years back, just thinking about it, I think Ray Tilla went about 45 years until he finally got one - and like Norm, he shot 800/3 before he threw 300.

I first started bowling in March 2001.
My first 300 came on 22 June 2005.
The second come on 15 March 2006.

...and Im waiting patiently for #3.

Been bowling for nearly 16 years (1992 to present) and have yet to crack it. Only hit 299 a few weeks ago to finish with a 1084 series (248,268,269,299)

i started bowling at balgowlah in 1983 shot my first 300 in practice in 97 followed by a 299 in pennants then my first league 300 3 weeks ago

I started bowling in 1988 and I still haven't bowled a legitimate sanctioned 300. I have bowled 2 in practice but they don't count...

I have a tendency to have a spare in the first frame then string strikes afterwards. My record for that is 17 in a row lol

Still waiting after nearly 20 years (on and off in that time). Got 279 the hard way; 9 miss, then off the sheet.
Have strung more than 12 in a row during practise but that doesn't count down these ways. . . . ;)

been bowling since i was about 6yrs old so about 1993 i started,
had a 296 when i was 14ish in 2001 or 2002, not sure it was in march i know that. but finally cracked it at my second attempt with the front 11, so between starting and now it has been fifteen years and between attempts it has been 6 or 7 years. i hope i dont have to wait as long for my next shot...

started bowling in 95 at 12 yo, bowled a 287 2 and a half years later in feb98 and a 288 a year after that, quit in 2001 then started bowling again in 2007, still no 300 as of yet lol, so 9 years roughly and still waiting.

Got you all beaten ( not a record to strive for ) Started Bowling at Enfield, in 1961. Still waiting. Not that I could'nt bowl a bit from time to time - Had 6 game series - A tournament qualifier at Bondi Junction in 1963, of either 1526 or 1528, can't remember for sure which.
Don't get nervous as strikes mount - just never happened. Plenty times more than 12 in row. A good high game is a good high game. 300 is just a score.

254 average back in 63 certainly shows that you could bowl. I certainly hope I am not in the same position as you in another 24 years. I'm in my 23rd year of competitive bowling without cracking the 300. Had a 290 in my regular practice session earlier this year and have bowled a 279 in a tournament but never had 12 in one game as yet.

I started bowling in 1979 as an 11 yr old. My first 300 came 23 years later on 5-9-2002. I've had 4 more since then but lost count of how many i've messed up. Even on the biggest ditches I still seem to be able to miss! I'm guessing that with the current trend of lane conditions, we'll all have plenty more chances, although I would really like to bowl one on a tough pattern one day.
