ANOTHER NEW BOWLING CENTRE FOR BRISBANE

Public Notice spotted outside the Winter Gardens building in Queen Street mall today, the usual notice advertising the application of a liquor licence. Further investigation inside the building led me up to the second floor where I found advertising material for Brisbane Bowling and notices announcing a new bowling bar opening in November.

For those who dont live in Brisbane - a lot of high rise development is going on at present, and a lot of it is apartments. A lot more people now live in the city and many more overseas students now come here to study.

The adverising did not state the name of the Nominee, and an ASIC search did not reveal details except that Brisbane Bowling is a registered company name and has been for some years.

So............who are Brisbane Bowling, does anybody know?

I think this new bowling venue will do very well, it will most likely be similar to the Sydney Fox Studios venue, which attracts social bowlers, and most likely this one will be a good draw card for "business house parties". A bit of competition for AMF's corporate parties, yes!
 
Lanes

The other thing i heard or read somewhere a while ago is that the lanes are not 60ft they are only 40ft.

Does anyone know if this is correct or not????
 
Which points to the same website ..

I actually went past there the other day and they are still putting hte lanes in .. as in they had put the base down for the approach and about 6 lanes but nothing else .. they had better get moving if they want to open in November ..

Dale did they say what date exactly they would be open ?

Andrew : definately looked like a normal centre. Though there was a demo down the coast at some trade fair that they were showing the 40ft amusement lanes ..
 
Strike Bowling Bar

Hi guys,

Ive bowled in the centre located at crown casino melbourne and they are normal lanes. However I think everyone will be a touch shocked when they discover the game rates. I believe when I was in Melbourne the cheapest I could get games for was about $6 a game in the morning going up to somewhere in the vicinity of $10+ per game in the evenings and weekends + shoe hire. It was basically a trendy bar style version of ur normal disco bowling that most centres have. Social only venue.

Wouldn't this be the better way to go... rather than turning existing centres from league centres to predominantly social centres, to just have a few centres that are social only therefore catering to both types of bowlers? :D

Whilst in Melbourne for SPC we had a bit of a look at Strike Bar (can't remember the street it was on) as well as the one at Crown, and it definitely seems they were going in the right direction in catering for the social bowler and corporate functions.
 
Also the new bowling center south of Brisbane. At the Logan Hyperdome which will be open sometime this month. They are taking names for League for next year. I went for a job interview and will not know whether I am successful until next week. So everyone cross your fingers for me lol
 
I live near the Hyperdome and can't wait for the new bowling ally to open up. I currently bowl at Logan City and think that having a new ally close by will be a very good thing.

If anyone know what date the Hyperdome Lanes are to open can you please let me know. Thanks

I also bowl at logan city and I work at the hyperdome so I can keep you up to date. I am thinking about bowling there also
 
Hi Everyone

The Wintergarden Strikezone opens today, Friday 26 November. If you get the chance, go down and have a look. It looks really good!!

It's a mini Mt Warren........it has 12 lanes!

Went down to have a look at Strike Wintergarden..

Very kewl setup. Synthetic Lanes and approaches, Plasma Screens everywhere, full lounge setup for the players area, kick ass sound system. They are still finishing everything off, official opening day is Monday 29/12.

Very impressive, sure to be a big hit for corporate functions and the like..

I would'nt mind finding out some more about the new Hyperdome bowl too...
 
what would you like to know about loganholm all the info so far in on the site
look under au center in the top bar, then type in loganholme
opening date should be very soon there are just laying down the footpath so the public can walk there
 
it seam that the workman are pushing there date back all the time the last date I been told for opening day is the 9th of dec.
what i have seen through the window it look GREAT
I can not wait to bowl a ball down
 
Just got off the phone from the guys at the HyperBowl. They are hoping to open the doors this afternoon! They're gunna give me a call to confirm, But I'll definately be heading down for a bowl ASAP.

It looks great, full synthetic.. latest Brunswick Seating/machines etc.. very flash..
 
Logan hyperbowl is now open they're opened their doors at 400 pm 9 th Dec
and it look great I went in and had a look I just have to fine time to try the lanes
