A New bowler, needing advise.

Bumpy

New Member
So after some time reading different things on the net, and some things here, i think i have a pretty basic understanding on how to start bowling with perhaps better results. I ask that you please correct me if i'm wrong, and i could also use advise on what sort of equipment i should be looking at.

Use the 4 step pattern, and keep my shoulders square to the foul line
Aim for the arrow on the lane, not the pin itself.
Make sure my swing is steady and that I release at the right time
Dont push or pull the ball.

Im not a league bowler, and i'm not a member of a club yet, Bateau Bay (Central Coast NSW) is my closest alley. I know there is more than what i have suggested, and i'm sure the club would have some sort of coaching lessons for those new to the sport. I will have to head down there when i get a chance a discuss things with them, but always like to hear input from others.

Cheers,
Rob.

Hi Rob,

These are good fundamentals to work on for some time yet!

Start with your own ball and some decent shoes. A well fitted ball is paramount to developing a free swing.

I'm not across all the pro shop options on the central coast, but I do know David Brooker at Gosford City Bowl comes highly recommended. There may well be others.

Good luck,
Jason
