A world record was set on Tuesday 3rd July at Garden City Lanes, Toowoomba by a team consisting of 3 junior bowlers and their teacher.
The four bowlers; Toni Wiffen, Rosie Washington, Suzie Washington, & John Bowdern, commenced bowling at 5.00am Monday morning and finished their marathon at 9.00pm Tuesday night. A total of 40 hours non-stop bowling.
The team completed a total of 81 games.
They now have to wait for the Guiness World records to ratify the record for inclusion in its next edition.
The main aim of the record attempt was to raise funds for the Luekimia Foundation. They raised over $1500.
Well done to all concerned, and thanks to Garden City Lanes for the use of the facility free of charge.

i get a little choked up when i hear of wonderful efforts of endurance being performed, especially all in the aid of charity

undoubtedly a fantastic effort by all concerned, and yes a special thanks should go towards the garden city lanes for the generosity.

jim webb from gosford back in 1984 bowled his way into the guiness book of records bowlig non stop for 195 and 1 minute, a marathon that will never be beaten....

guiness have put a stop on endurance records of this nature, feeling "peoples lives where at stake".
such records of this nature are unfortunately no longer recorded in the great book, but luckily bowling is allowed 24 hour 5 man team records to be noted (pinfall being the record), and a team bowling at nowra in nsw holds that record.

if the guiness dont recognise your wonderful effort, maybe tbal could list it in their hall of fame, thus tempting and ecouraging others to follow....we could even have it permanantly on this web site or even jans book of australian records could have such a catagory.
let the rush of endurance records begin, and of course have it for two purposes, raising money for charity and having your name engraved in another chapter of australian tenpin bowling.
