Twas the Night After Burdekin and.......

F

Funky Chicken

Twas the night after Burdekin,
An all through N.Q.
All they could talk about,
Was that giant of a man, they call Brandon Q.

Smashing the pocket, time and again,
He conquered the lanes, with relative ease.
In a display of bowling, rarely seen in the North,
He brought the entire field, crashing to it's knees.

Others had their chances, to slay the Brisbane giant
But stumbled at the last hurdle, time and again.
But special mention must go, to the man with the "sock",
That's right, Robbie Buckley, and his pocket 8-10.

Every tournament that I go to, that "The Sock" attends,
He always feels the need, to bag my fingers so scrawny,
And yes I throw a weak shot, that leaves the odd split,
But I've never left an 8-10, that's cost me the tourney :D :D

Then there was the Greek, who was a favourite to win,
But for Brandon proved to be the perfect foil.
Because instead of bowling like we know he can,
Spent too much time crying about no oil. :D :D :D

And finally onto the Teletubby, who gave it his best effort.
Who bowled a lot of great shots, and even ripped a rack.
With Dipsy, LaLa & Po, into the sunset he rides,
But keep one eye on the horizon, because next year he'll be back!!!

Cheers

Steve

PS On a serious note, congratulation to Brandon on a great win that showed not only what an awesome bowler he is, but also what a great ambassador for our sport he is and a real asset to the Ebonite company.

I'm never going to live that last shot down, am I Steve?

What the hell, it was only $1200 bucks a pin...

The Sock (at least that has a better ring to it than Chook)

Complaining about oil? Am I asking too much to have the edge 4 boards oiled and the heads re-done after the 6 games in the morning? No oil at the foul line can't be good for the sport (lets not re-visit the Mt Gravatt days please)............

I know its NQ and Burdekin tried their best but bowlers from NQ will always be a product of their enviroment if they continue to bowl on conditions that are that dry.

I'm hoping that next year the edges are oiled and more is put down prior to the final round. Well done to Brando, certainly the inform bowler in Australia at the moment on any condition.
