Tuesday Night Practice at AMF Rooty Hill

Hi All,

AMF Rooty Hill will have 8 lanes washed & oiled in various patterns each week from next
Tuesday 1st November, for anyone wishing to practice on more challenging lane conditions.

Lanes will be available from approx 4:30pm, so the earlier you can arrive,
the better chances of getting fresh lanes.

Patterns will be selected form the Kegel Navigation Challenge & Sports Series,
as well as tournament patterns from
• USBC (United States Bowling Congress)
• EBT (European Bowling Tour)
• ETBF (European Tenpin Bowling Federation)
• PABCON (Pan American Bowling Confederation)
• ABF (Asian Bowling Federation)
• WTBA (World Tenpin Bowling Association)

If you would like a particular pattern down for practice, please let me know & ill try to fit it in.

Hi All,

I have been asked by a few people how to read the “Lane Machine Program Sheets” for Sanction Lane Machines.

Attached is a PDF explaining how to read them.

But remember that this does not always mean that the lanes will play exactly as you think. they are more about providing information on the program, and where the oil is laid.

Factors to consider when reading a Lane Machine Program Sheet and comparing to what’s happening out on the lanes are

1) Product
Brand – Oil, Cleaner, Lane Machine, Lane Surface

2) Procedure
Dilution of cleaner
Is pattern converted from other type of lane machine
Dragging lanes – Frequency
Machine checking, calibration frequency

3) Maintenance
Lane Machine – Adjustments checked, worn parts replaced
Lanes washed & oiled regularly

4) Surface
Timber or synthetic
High or low friction lane surface
Age of surface, or last time resurfaced (timber)
Wear & tear, are lanes burned (loss of texture)

5) Topography
Shape of lane, crosswise tilt, crown or depression

Hi Scott,
Thanks for all your hard work and advise, and I hope many bowlers take advantage of this type of practice.
If there is anyone interested in bowling on one of these patterns in a scratch league for 2012 I know they can speak to you or contact me
regarding the next season of Telstar Doubles League. We are currently bowling on the Beaten Path Pattern with only 3 weeks to go.
Reformation will be mid January, so watch this space for more detail.

Hi Scott, it's unfortunate that your techs go to the effort of putting a sports pattern down only for bowlers to be told that the lanes have been oiled but there is a big booking that is going to go there so you can't bowl.
I might flick an email to the centre manager cause it's not great on their part.
Every week I that I have come up either the counter staff aren't aware or there have been social bowling on those pairs which defeats the purpose.

I do sincerely apologise, if I knew there was a group booking booked in for tonight I would have skipped putting a pattern down for this week.
I have been on annual leave for the past 4 weeks and I should have checked prior to posting a pattern for tonight.

I hope this mess-up on my behalf does not discourage you from taking advantage of the patterns being put down week by week.
