Perth Cup 2005

SCOOPS

GUINNESS SWILLUS
What a weekend, where to start

Firstly HUGE HUGE CONGRATS to BELMO simply awesome mate - what a year so far and so much more ahead......

To all bowlers that came over thank you, and we hope to see you all back next year

Ian Nicholls did a great job as per usual had a number of our local bowlers not be able to make it in on the final day but said it was still exciting looking at the scores coming thru the net...... for all final scores and other bits please check it out http://www.tenpin.org.au/2005_Ranked_Events/Perth_Cup/2005_Perth_Cup_Results.htm

Finally special thanks to Ron at Heritage for his continued support of what is the Best tournament not only in WA but i believe the entire country
We may not get the entries such as AO, SPC or MELB CUP
BUT NO Tourney can boast of the support that we get from our locals as far as coming in and spectating ask any bowler out on the lanes and they'll tell you it makes a difference.... bowling with atmosphere

Congrats Belmo on a great win.

It's a shame that more local bowlers don't get behind the cup. I guess it's better to sit on the side lines and have a go about there not being enough tournies to enter. [-(

BG

Bring on the Gold Cup!

Yes shame U know there was over 20 that bowled in 2004 and not this year.................... real shame

With the loss of Cannington Classic for next year and lack of interest this year in both events who knows if the Perth Cup would run again

As much as it may hurt to do so, if you want more interstate interest, you may well have to change format to 2 days because it is not a public holiday anywhere else in Australia. It was the main reason I was not there this year (also my son's birthday that weekend too) due to a new job. THe time has passed when bowlers will, en masse, sacrifice a day's work and wages to travel interstate, especially to Perth to bowl a tournament.

The last thing I want to see is the Perth Cup fold. By and large the numbers of WA entries wasnt too bad at all, it was the lack of interstate entries that really hurt the event. The tournament has enough cred to attract more interstate entries with a 2 day format.

Interesting Point Brenton that has been made for some years now and certainly will be looked at alot closer over the next few weeks.

if its made over two days so it is on a weekend i will be there next yr, ive been looking at the tourn for some time but being over three days i cant leave work that long. if it is changed i will be there

It certainly was a long weekend over here and it always goes so fast but if I wasnt totally shagged on the Tuesday then I had a bad one. Not so this year, one of the best by far. My weekend probably started on Friday when I dropped into Fairlanes for lunch and was lucky enough to catch up with a few of the Brizzy Lions who were relaxing before their game against the Dorkers. As luck would have it Belmo was practising at the time and they were totally gobsmacked, a sign of things to come.

Highlights for me....(1) Georges 300, Perfectos barely raise a yelp over there and I reckon even George was surprised by the reaction from the crowd. Didnt see Andrews but I hear it was a good one.
(2) Watching Matty Watson (watsonia) take it off the sheet to make the finals in his first attempt. Had an ordinary day on Monday but I'm sure will be better for it.
(3) Of course Belmo never headed and was a bit of a shame fouling for a 280 but its only a matter of time.
(4) Qualifying with Frags was great. Really clicked for 2 days and always a relief to make the cut.
(5) So good to see Staxo out there again and oh so close to making it thru. Hope he sacks up again next year.
(6)Not really a highlight but a bit peeved to let Scoops sneak past me with a game to go after being dead level with a game to go. Doh!!

All in all an amazing weekend and a big thanks to Sue and staff for their efforts over the 3 days and I'm already looking forward to next year.

Baron

ps The great man and slipperiest of all left handers will return next year and
will be bowling

Make it two days, three games per day and I'm in, again.

To Belmo, it was like shelling peas. It was great to watch and you were a worthy winner. He makes it look so easy, and the biggie, he is a bowler’s bowler.

To Trot’s, a great chase, but when the leader keeps throwing 3 pointers, it’s hard to catch up.

To Al, you showed you class and fighting spirit and would just not go away. A solid performance and a well deserved 4th.

To the rest of the chasing pack, well done. Mike, under great personal pressure, a fine effort. Matty Fragell on a 299, Baron for just showing up, Vince, there again, Matty Watson, good first up effort, Brett, solid as usual, Luke, stick at it, and Russ, you will be able to put exactly the same on your wish list again next year.

To Andrew and George on their 300's. Great effort.
With the lanes being "some what" slick in our first outing on Saturday (C Squad) and getting on-a-roll quite hard, this was George's comment after shooting his 300. "If someone had told me I was going to shoot 300 this weekend I would have told them not to patronize me" His 300 game was in the middle of a 21 bagger. Great bowling George (822 series)

To all the other bowlers, and Baron, well done on a fine effort over the weekend. It was great to watch.

To Sue and all her staff, as always a shinning example of professionalism and friendliness that makes the Perth Tenpin Cup what it is.

Stax

and some funny news from the 71st rank person, Me .....LOL just kidding but seriously, The perth cup was awesome and Id give my own life to do it all over again and again and again..and to win $100 for a lane record.....That just capped it off.

Well done to belmo.....nice work mate, go for the back to back next year

Nice work to my man and mentor, scoops, well done and also well done to sue and her staff for running such a great event.
