Burnie Open Masters Reults

The annual Burnie Masters were held on Sunday September 16th.

Format: Top 7 qualifiers plus defending champion to bowl 7 games head to head.

The high scoring coming from Burnie Bowl during recent weeks continued through the tournament.

The mens event was taken out by the defending champion, Ashley Riley.
Ashley started with a 3 game block of 821 (266,276,279) and was never headed. He finished with an average of 237.3 for his seven games.
Matt Riley finished strongly to take second place with a 229.6 average, shooting 984 for his last 4 games.
Third place went to Brett Riley with a 226 average and fourth place was Brett Kenley averaging 222.
All four bowlers are Burnie league bowlers and members of this years Rachuig team.
Veteren Garry Crick finished fifth with a 216 average.

The ladies event was a closely fought contest with 16 pins seperating first and second placegetters.
Defending champion and 2001 FIQ Youth team member Rebecca Salter finished first, averaging 202 for seven games. She bowled the high game of the day with a brilliant 280 in games 2.
Kassey Fechner of Launceston put in a consistent performance to finish a close second with a 198.3 average.

An enjoyable day was had by the small number of bowlers who supported this event.
A thankyou to the Burnie Bowl Management and staff for running the tournament and laying a high scoring, but fair condition.
