    2019 WA state championships

I'm just trying to find out the best way to organise partners to bowl doubles and teams events with as I've only just moved to WA. If there is anyone looking for someone to do their events with let me know Thanks

How do we fix entry numbers at ranked events?

Yep James I remember those days being a junior then was fantastic. We had so many exceptional talents then and rolling off for the ACT and Southern NSW sheild side was tough. Had around 30 juniors competing to make the team and I'll bet the numbers aren't anything like that now for most states...

No WA Rachuig Team 2013 - is this really in the best interests of the sport?

Cmon guys we're supposed to be encouraging ppl to bowl and talking about these costs is just scary. There'll be no one wanting to bowl after seeing these figures. But in all seriousness I agree that TBA must find a way to assist bowlers (especially in state teams) with travel costs

No WA Rachuig Team 2013 - is this really in the best interests of the sport?

It ain't easy being a bowler in WA or NT is it. :p Maybe one day in nthe near or far away future things will get more feasible for us. Until then I guess we have to suck it up and work with what we have got.

No WA Rachuig Team 2013 - is this really in the best interests of the sport?

Wow Matty That's rough, the NTTBA usually set up some fundraising. I think the WATBA should offer some support as like I said if the bowlers are available and keen then the committee must try and raise some funds to assist the bowlers travelling. Don't know the exact situation there but from...

No WA Rachuig Team 2013 - is this really in the best interests of the sport?

Sorry I got a little rushed with that last post and made it a little too much about my own personal situation. My point though remains it is the financial cost that is making it so tough to send a team over from our remote states. I don't know what happens in the way of funding in WA but here in...

No WA Rachuig Team 2013 - is this really in the best interests of the sport?

Is that counting players from Alice Springs for the NT because average flight costs for us is alot more than 330 there and back. Especially by the time we get the money together to book the flights after knowing if we are in the team or not. It's easier from Darwin as like I've stated in...

No WA Rachuig Team 2013 - is this really in the best interests of the sport?

To put it simply, for us travelling from NT and WA it is too costly to get to townsville (or just about anywhere in the country from where I am). I competed in the Australian Open this year and my trip cost me $66o for airfares, $180 for accomodation (3 days), $260 entry fee (as expected when...

No WA Rachuig Team 2013 - is this really in the best interests of the sport?

I certainly hope this isn't true as the tournament is already struggling and if states cannot field a team then it will only bring our sport closer to disappearing. I know here in the NT we are struggling as not all our best bowlers will put their name down to roll off (yes myself included but I...

How do we fix entry numbers at ranked events?

One thing I'll add to what you said Matt is that avoiding the long weekends for events will prevent headaches for the bosses between letting one travel for bowling or the other one wanting to take the time off to be with their family (or have a short trip away themselves). Also like what Docta...

    Unacredited Coaching

The big problem as pointed out in Porky's post is the difference betwwn coaches that have an eye for talent and coaches that don't. Maybe there should be a ruling that states those wanting to coach to have a certain amount of bowling experience (I don't neccesarily mean as a bowler) to be...

    TBA ???? GOOD or BAD

Docta, emmtee83, I can see where you both are coming from as I had a similar thing happen to me in 2006. I placed 7th in the rachuig roll off that year and got shafted for another player who had been part of the team for the previous 2 years and was unable to roll off that year... oh wait I...

Tournaments. What do bowlers really want? Can TBA do more?

I can see both sides of this one. On one hand Deano, the Rachuig trial dates have remained the same month and roughly date for the past few years and that information is relatively easy to find on the TBA website. On the other hand I believe a tournament that was run as well as I hear your's...

    TBA ???? GOOD or BAD

Hi Docta (it's me again) felt this was the right place to place a response to your last post in the 8 pin advantage thread. It sounds like the AMF cantre you bowl at is more at fault on the lack of information of membership benefits rather than the TBA as they send flyer out to centres etc...

8pins start for women, did it work?

I guess the other thing that should be thought about is payouts further down the ladder. Take into consideration the numbers from last year for an event and let's assume that roughly the same number of male bowlers show up plus 20 odd females enter into that pool. So then the fringe bowlers that...

8pins start for women, did it work?

Yes that' correct. They do get paid for it and guess what they put an idea to practice. If they had a better idea I'm sure they would have tested it first hence why I say don't knock something unless you have something better. Time will tell on whether it succeeds or fails

8pins start for women, did it work?

I think what robbie is getting at is how the condition plays on the lanes could be havoc. Could be wrong though Maybe it isn't the best idea but rather than just pointing out the negatives how about suggesting an alternative solution to the decline in the ladies numbers. Everyone has a...

8pins start for women, did it work?

Yeah dicta you clearly missed my point as I was just using those two bowlers as examples. The fact is as a few others stated the females lack the rev rates and thus cannot open up the lanes as much as the males. Yes a select few are very capable of beating the best male bowlers but they are...
