Save Bowling from Easy Lane Conditions

Higher COR = more deflection, hence the 10-pins.

    BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!

Hmm, I call foul - we were on 5/6, that photo is from lane 16, and the ball is clearly NOT a slate U-Dot. Bad rack Ido.

    AMF Australian Masters overview

Why would they need to be there the whole week if they are just going for Masters? Rachuig bowlers have to bowl an allevents BEFORE Rachuig - option 2 adds two more days to the Rachuig bowlers, and both options mean the same stay for the others.

    AMF Australian Masters overview

Michael, the Rachuig bowlers are already committing to a full week at least with the current timing as it is - to extend that by another 2 or 3 days just for the convenience of those who choose to focus on the Masters is simply unfair. Moving Rachuig to AFTER the Masters could work though, IMO...

Can a bowler be truly successful without coaching?

Why do you need to be in a bowling centre to do release drills?

A gripe or two about bowling

In terms of Waynes OP, IIRC the singles at the 1936 Olympics (Demonstration sport) was expected to be a formality for the all-conquering US team, who had already belted everyone in the teams and doubles events. Instead, a relative novice from Germany (apparently a very good bocce player though)...

Great wrap up from Tubby on yet another fantastic weekend at Innisfail. Congrats to Mandy, EJ, Edmond and Giovanna - you guys put your heart and soul into this event every year, and us bowlers really do appreciate it. Full scores are avaialble on the Sugarbowl website here: Barrier Reef...

    A question for the Kiwis.

On the off chance that some of you guys do read this forum, I have a question: Is there enough depth in NZ to field separate North Island and South Island teams in the Rachuig comp? While we tend to look at NZ as a special case, I really don't feel it is appropriate to field another...

Wrist devices, fair or unfair advantage?

Rob, why do you feel the need to trot out this strawman? Nobody except you has called these bowlers cheats. Wrist supports are legal, and nobody disputes that. Whether using them should be restricted or not is a matter of opinion - last I heard people are still allowed to have those. I also...

    10th Rachuig team announced.

Seems to have slipped under the radar a little, but welcome to the Australian Defense Force guys and gals, who will be the 10th team at the 2011 Rachuig Tournament.

Wrist devices, fair or unfair advantage?

Steve, as I said above, there is a difference between various levels of equipment that are used by sportsmen, and a device designed to allow physically less able people to enhance their use of that equipment. Bowling should be about accuracy WITH power. There have been great bowlers who lean...

Wrist devices, fair or unfair advantage?

To me this illustrates the difference. Body suits were banned because they allow the swimmers to do times they cannot with them off, ie they enhace the performance without the requirement for better skills or strength. Wrist prostheses are the only 'improvements' that substitute for a lack of...

New addition to the rule book

"no electronic earpieces, headphones or any other electronic device can be worn or used by bowlers whilst they are competing" Seems clear enough.

    Am I Being Unreasonable?

If you had bowled well, would you have used the scores? If you felt it was enough of an issue to affect your qualifying, you should have let them know as soon as you realised it was going to be an issue. Do you really think you should get a freeroll because of machine malfunction?

    Finger Question

Getting the side pitch for the index finger is the tricky bit. One way is to get an old house ball, punch a 0/0 thumb into it and punch an index finger hole in at the correct span, and just keep rotating the grip and redrilling with various pitches until you get one that has no sideways pressure...
