At the moment I prefer my old wooden lanes, but that's only because I haven't bowled for 2 months, & have only just started going back to practice, but this time on synthetic lanes. Instead of people saying Synthetic lanes inflate scores, perhaps they need to say wooden lanes decrease scores...

That really depends, the sweep may have lifted but the table may have cut out, leaving it down.. I know a lot of bowlers who don't look at their rack before they set up, especially young people. On the other hand, you may be right also! I'd be more worried about the damage done to the machine...

Actually, I'm just curious as to how large the youth scene is down here. I've recently moved & once I get my work in order, I want to start bowling again. Is it worth doing youth or should I just wait until next year & go straight into adults? I'm 22 so I'll be aging out next year anyways.

Yes, I find competing against better players brings the better player out in me. On the contrary, when playing someone far less to your own ability, it reverses & you become lazy. Such a mental game.

I don't think it's specific content wayne is suggesting, geoff. Having TBA board members, etc, post on this website would increase the level of communication between us & them (& the quality as well). Theoretically speaking, an increase in PR may just help the sport get to where we want it.

In our center, my average is about 198 give or take a few pins over 3 leagues. We are a wooden center sporting a century100 wicker. We wash 3 times a week, on our busiest days, the rest are just buffed. Needless to say our condition can be quite erratic not just between weeks, but between lane...

I use dots when playing wet lanes, or down 5 board (silly inability to hit 1st arrow, too scared of the gutter I guess) Other than that, I feel there's too much error when missing dots, so i sight the arrows & break point normally. We once had a techy who would sight just his break point 40 ft...
