    Farewell Redcliff Bowl.

Redcliffe Bowl which is a center that AMF was leasing is closing its doors after Xmas. The center is located about 35ks north of Brisbane and was built in the 80's I believe. The site was previously a drive-in movie and will now probably be sold for housing development.

    Find a centre upates.

I am in Sydney at the moment installing kickbacks for the new string machines at strathfield. oddly strathfield is changing from an amf centre to kingpin! I did the change at Liverpool from kingpin to amf centre a couple of years ago. cost a lot of money to convert the "atomosphere" of the place.

What is AMF doing to the game?

AMF lease the majority of their centres. In Brisbane all the centres which they operate are leasehold. It is believed that Cannon Hill will not continue as a bowling centre and a third party is negotiating with the owner of Kedron to purchase it and continue bowling operations. Richlands and...

What is AMF doing to the game?

I was talking to an AMF fac. manager the other day and he told me of the fact that they want the pins rotated weekly. I told him that to do 20 lanes would take approx. 20 hrs depending on your skill level. Also the suppliers QubicaAMF don't actually advise operators to rotate pins whereas...

What is AMF doing to the game?

Bowlers at Kedron and Cannon Hill have been told that the centers will be closing in June. We hear that several other Brisbane centers may not have their leases renewed next year. Meanwhile AMF have started changing some of their centers over to string machine operation with Castle Hill being...

    Bowling lanes not cleaned properly

It is possible that if the old oil is not completely removed then that oil could be pushed down the lane by the squeegee blade. This would be a compounding effect with more oil being moved each time the machine is used and this would result in patchy backends.

    STRING PINSETTER MACHINES?

String machines are becoming popular with the small outlets and private houses. The TMS machine is sold here by QubicaAMF. Everything is the same as a normal lane setup including the pins except they have a string attached. There have been a couple of instals done recently at a private house in...

    Another bowl closes.

I received a phone call from the owner of the cosy little 6 lane centre at Stanthorpe on Monday telling me that after much deliberation they were going to have to close the centre. Due to the economic downturn in business around the Stanthorpe district over the past 3 - 4 months it was not...
