2013 Nationals

With Townsville being as shorter priced favourite to host the nationals this year as Black Caviar is to win at Flemington tomorrow, maybe they can re-name them the Eastern Australian Championships. Or they can amalgamate with the East Coast Challenge.

And S.A., W.A. & NT can run there own Central Western Australian Championships.

Rob, I can understand the frustration of having to travel every year, but the fact is if no centre from SA or WA puts in a bid then the tournament won't go there.
ATBSO and Holt went really well here, accomodation is relatively cheap and we have great food and cheap coffee at the Bowl. If we are lucky enough to get the nod it will be in a centre that puts the tournament bowlers first, and Townsville in October is a great place for a holiday.

I don't know if TBA make it common knowledge to the general public what centers, in what states bid for the nationals. There well may have been no SA or WA centers bid this year. Still doesn't change the fact that it hasn't been off the east coast in 14 years. Seems to be only a national competition in attendance only.

Hmmm, a "like" from someone that lives 350kms away. 4hr drive better than 4 day drive. :):):)

Is townsville putting up the 100k??

Goodness Dougy, look at the can of worms you've opened now. Everyone seems to have missed this ----

"Integral to the appraisal is the AUSTRALIAN MASTERS which attracts some of the world’s top international bowlers. As part of the WTBA World Bowling Tour, and with a minimum prize purse of $100,000, the Australian Masters has emerged as the pinnacle event at the Adult Nationals with timing of the Masters also dependant on the scheduling of other WBTstops,"

which is copied from the TBA item on their website.

Hahha. I just wasnt to sure, to be able to win the bid u had to put up the 100k

Last I heard (and this is recent, within the last 3 months) for a WBT stop to be held the tournament must have a minimum of 200K. Be interesting to see what happens.

There's conformation of the worst kept secret in the history of tenpin bowling.

Looks like no WBT Australian Masters this year

The eagerly awaited news regarding the venue for the 2013 Adult National Championship and Australian Masters was released by Tenpin Bowling Australia’s CEO, Cara Honeychurch today.

Kirwan Bowl in the tropical city of Townsville has won the bid to host this year’s event following an exhaustive appraisal of options by the TBA Board. Dates have been confirmed from 5-26 October, with the Australian Masters to be held on 25/26 October.

Australian Matsers 25th & 26th October.

WSOB in Las Vegas 25th October - 3rd November. Cant see any overseas bowlers supporting Australian Masters with that on.

and not an AMF centre. so no WBT event anymore and no $100K prizemoney.

it is a shame AMF and the other companies in bowling cannot come to the party to make it happen and as above, the scheduling has made it nigh impossible money or not to have a WBT event either way.

still may go and bowl though anyways.
