hi there can anyone shed some light on the rumour or ruling of a bowling ball being classified as illegal or a 300 not being counted if a lifter is sticking out of a finger hole come the weighing of a ball if the person owning the ball bowls 300 this may sound strange but im not sure if its true or not does anyone know? thanks

as far as i know if there is anything above the ball surface it is to be called illegal but im pretty sure that 99% of proshops would just let it go.

I guess it would depend on wether or not you purposely set the grips above the surface of the ball, to get extra friction I suppose, but I can't figure out why you would want to.... if the ball did in fact roll over the grips and they were sticking out, the ball wouldn't roll well, and I doubt it would aid the hook at all.
