Aussies amongst the loot
By Matt Cenin for cricket.com.au

With all the hussle and bustle, wheeling and dealing of the IPL auction overnight, all the Australian players have come out with second homes in India for 44-days of the year and much better healthier bank balances.

Andrew Symonds' flamboyant style and all-round cricketing skills made him Australia's MVP, with the Queenslander pick-up by Hyderabad for a cool A$1.47 million.

However, the star Australian trade and possibly, considering his recent Victorian form, the value buy of the auction was VB Bushranger David Hussey who went to Kolkata for a lazy A$740,000.

In total 13 Aussies were picked up in the auction for a grand total of A$7,392,000.

Wouldn't be surprised if we see current players walk away from the international game after seeing those figures. Shane Warne must feel ripped off. He's only worth $492,000 while Murali is worth $656,000, Harbhajan $927,000 and even 19yo Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma $1.03 million. Not to mention Dave Hussey and Cameron White is worth more.

Yeh this is exactly what provoked me to put this on here. Dave Hussey being auctioned for more than his brother Michael "Mr Cricket". It doesn't make sense to me. Ricky Ponting and Haydos also being ripped off majorly. Its great to see all 3 of australia's big gun retirees Langer, Warne and McGrath playing, however they are ripped off also

There is no certainty that the contracted aussies such as Ponting, Hayden and M hussey will even play - that is why their value is down. D Hussey and White will definitely play and that's why they were more popular.
Langer was never as good in the one day game and his price reflects that.
As for McGrath, he was a champion bowler but 20/20 is really about batting and fielding and at 38 there are probably better players around now.
