Coverstock Questions

BEEEEEEEEEAVER
Just some questions relating to coverstock changes we have seen in the sport over the last 13 - 15 years

Exaclubar (spelling) was the first reactive ball i remember, there was a lot of talk at the time how the ball lost its tackiness.

How far has the resin technology come?

Do all reactive balls still lose their edge over time, or does removing the oil bring reactive balls back to new.

The other question what was the first Particle ball and who was it made by?

First Particle ball was the Columbia Orange Dot... I hunk of brown plastic with rocks in it.

First REAL Particle ball as we know it was the Jade Quantum made by Brunswick i beleive

If you ask the guys at ebonite, they say that it isn't the oil that affects reactive coverstocks. Somehow, repeated usage over time results in something called plasticizer moving towards the surface of the ball. This clogs up the pores of the bowling ball, making the ball skid further down the lane and grip less.
