Adult State Championships 2009

Re: Qld State Championships

Fitz only certain open tournaments attract rankings points. You will find a list of these tournaments on the National website or on this website. Before you can be awarded points you have to join the system using this application form

It is thought that rankings points were originally invented to help with National Team selection, however the point of the existing ranking system remains a total mystery to some of us.

State Championships are not Ranked events. They are a stand alone event desigmed to cater to all levels of Bowler through a gradings system (although these days at least here in Qld the lower average bowlers tend not to support State Championships.)

There is a separate Masters event at State Championships which is considered an elite event as the winners go on to represent their respective State at the National Championships.

Rachuig is, or rather used to be, considered the pinnacle of Rep Teams however these days it has lost some of its gloss. Rachuig does not attract Rankings points.

The only other significent Rep team event in South Qld is the Association Challenge which is run annually on the Queens Birthday Weekend.
This event has an extremely high profile in Qld and attracts most of Queenslands finest.

This may answer some of your queries - the only advice I have to offer is if you want to improve your game mix it with the top end bowlers as much as possible. The vast majority of elite bowlers here in Qld are really helpful people and you will learn a huge amount from both observing and also participating.

Re: Qld State Championships

Thanks Andrew,

Just bringing this back to the top:
