2004 Asian Schools Team Rolloff

The Roll off for the last 3 positions of the representative boys (4) and girls (4) teams will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 6th, 7th and 8th February 2004 at Canberra International Bowl, Tuggeranong, ACT.

The highest placed All Star Team Members, Boys and Girls from President’s Shield 2003, Stephen Cowland and Tracey Madden must meet all other criteria to be part of 2004 team.

CRITERIA –

• All players must be under 19 years of age on 1st January 2004 and full time students at school, university or college.
• Bowlers must bowl in a 2003 registered centre.
• Bowlers must be a registered player in good standing with TBA.
• Bowlers must have completed at least 18 games in a league competition during 2003.

THE ROLLOFF WEEKEND -

• Bowlers will compete in Singles, Doubles and Teams – lane draw and partners/teams determined by the Tournament Committee.
• Team members will be determined by the points score as explained below.
• There will also be Sport Psychology and Protocol workshop for both bowlers and parents.
• Weekend agenda will be available on TBA website www.tenpin.org.au as soon as bowler numbers are confirmed, but no later than 20th January 2004. Check in for the weekend will be 6pm on Friday 6th February 2004.

How the Points Work

Bowlers will bowl 4 squads of 6 game blocks with points determined based on number of bowlers competing. After each block for example, if 15 boys competed, the bowler finishing 1st would accumulate 15 points and the bowler finishing last would receive 1 point.

The points for each 6 game block are only awarded after the 6 games have been completed.

At the completion of the 24 games, the top 3 point scorers in boys and girls divisions will join the top Junior All-star players from 2003 Presidents Shield competition (Stephen Cowland and Tracey Madden) to form the 2004 Australian Team. (All-star bowler must meet all other criteria).

For eventual Team Members and Officials

Team members and officials will be required to pay a participation fee of at least $1500 which along with ASC and TBA Funding completes payments for airfares, accommodation, uniforms, lineage, registration fees, some meals, transport etc.

The actual event will be held in Hong Kong during April and travel dates which will include a pre event camp will be advised as soon as possible.
