receive this interesting email yesterday from the USA with some stats on ball performances for the USA winter PBA Tour
We are very pleased to announce that the finals of the PBA Etonic Don Johnson Eliminator were held Sunday afternoon in Columbia, Ohio. This is a unique format in which the top 4 qualifiers all bowl game #1. The low player is eliminated from further competition. The top 3 then bowl 1 game. The low player is eliminated again and than the top 2 players bowl 1 game for the championship.
The final 4 were Wes Malott, Osku Palermaa, Brian Kretzer, and Mike Scroggins.
Wes was eliminated in round 1.
Osku was eliminated in round 2,
Brian Kretzer was eliminated in round 3
Mike Scroggins won with the Columbia 300 Full Swing. Mike was the only lefty among the top 16 finishers. Final score…..206 to 195.
It is no secret that the 2008/2009 PBA Tour belonged to Storm balls. That is no longer the case. For the Fall/Winter tour, Ebonite Brands have been used on the televised finals 33 times, Storm 30, Global 6, and Brunswick 5. Note that we are not counting the Chris Paul PBA Celebrity Invitational as this is a made for TV event that is sponsored by one company and only that Company’s staff players may participate.
Ebonite Brands are 8 for 15 in wins.
Storm Brands 5 for 15
Global 2 for 15.
Since the beginning of the 2010 Winter tour,
Ebonite balls have been used on TV 20 times,
Storm balls 15,
and Global 3.
In wins, the statistics are really interesting since the beginning of the winter tour.
Ebonite is 6 for 8,
Storm 1 for 8,
Global 1 for 8.
Cheers!
Mike
