    How to promote bowling?

The one thing bowling has that no other sport has is that everyne can be included, no skill level to start - anyone can get a strike, no embarrassing outfits to wear, and no one misses out - there isn't a disability that cant be catered for. I would reckon a collage style approach depicting...

    TBA MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

I dont know what they are planning to pay for this worker but Jim - here is something out of the box. Maybe it would make more sense to split the pay up 8 ways into sponsorship packages for uni students in each state and territory. The job could be the project. I am sure that work performance...

Save Bowling from Easy Lane Conditions

Maybe the conditions could be renamed to reflect the skill levels needed to bowl on the condition. For example Easy street could be classified as a beginners condition, and sports conditions classified as an experienced/good players condtion. Then something in the middle as a development type of...

    Not sure of the ruling.

Hmm. Most sports I know can be played either hand, or foot. Soccer, AFL, pool/snooker, cricket, lawn bowls, golf, tennis, etc. In fact being able to play with either hand or foot is desirable in most other sports.

    bowling. your doing it wrong,

nev - that was a commercial for ice hockey, saying that bowling would be so much more exciting if it were more like hockey. There was also a snooker one

Alley owner thrown out by landlord

That really sucks. Maybe an appplication should be made for a cultural heritage order to be placed on the building. 30 years is a long time.

    TBA Smoking rule

Nobody has ever said it out loud before but the bowling boom of the 90s stopped when smoking was banned in the centres. An example - Mirrabooka Bowl was the first I know of to go non-smoking and whole leagues left to go to another centre. The centre closed its doors after about 6 months. I think...

    A question for you all

am happy to drag my old dick weber powerball out and I still go ok with it. Just a little statement way out of the box - if you want to improve your game - go and play lawn bowls -pretty much cost free (cept for your beers and smokes) - your not using 15/16 lb balls - swing is the same -...

Ball Brands - Where is AMF at AMF centres!

Hi Jim Thanks for your feedback on this. I was merely trying to say that the proshops today are being punished for the greed of the proshop operators in the past. It was while our dollar was low that we discovered it was much much cheaper to buy online. Now that the dollar is high, it is...

Ball Brands - Where is AMF at AMF centres!

Re - the online dilemma for pro shops. It's unfortunate but proshops today are paying for the sins of yesterday. Similiar to the Gerry Harvey fiasco, if you were to ask people they would tell you that they were ripped off in the past. An example, I saved nearly $300 on a Storm Wrath (including...

    A question for you all

Hi Terry Its nice to see a couple of people actually agree with me about this. I reckon though that the true strength of this proposal is in its simplicity - just 2 balls for league and 3 for tournaments. I would actually suggest not announcing the pattern. That was one of the things I loved...

    A question for you all

The solution really isnt all that complicated or expensive. Just restrict bowlers to 2 bowling balls for a league (house shot) and 3 bowling balls for a tournament (sports conditions). Brings it back to a more even playing field, ie individual skills will become more important then the ability...

I reckon I can get more power out of my shot if I try to bowl a helicopter shot

    Numbers at tournaments

Money comes into it but I dont think its the only thing to blame. Its the other issues that people have that probably need to be addressed. This is the issue that stops me from playing. There are a small number of bowlers who play so slowly that everyone else has to wait for up to 20...

    Rule query.

I have another question to ask here - if you bowl on the wrong lane shouldnt it be declared a miss? - the shot wasnt even good enough to get in the gutter

    Synthetic V/S Wood.

My two cents worth - synthetic approaches are dangerous but cheaper than wood. Apparently money is more important than player safety. I have found that the most important piece of bowling equipment I have is a sock over my shoe which ensures that I never stick. If I dont have the sock I do not...

what's the oldest ball you own?

I bought it to replace one that was stolen but I never really liked it. I think the last time I used it was over 10 years ago as a left hand spare ball. I always thought the powerball was a better ball. As for being a collectors item - doesnt mean much to me. Happy to give it up if it would...

what's the oldest ball you own?

I got a Dick Weber 5 star, a dick weber powerball and an lt48. The powerball still gets a run every now and then.

    Old bowling alley

Hey Dominique I dont know so much about tassie. But I reckon there are some older looking alleys around. Geraldton would be a good choice - the lanes and pinsetters are very much an 80s style
