ARE BOWLING GAMES TOO EXPENSIVE ?

Hey James - it's about $14.00 for social bowlers in AMF centres in Melbourne. Totally agree that social bowling is way too expensive - most people would only volenteer to bowl one game, but if you made it $7.00 per game them they would probably bowl 3 games! I am an AMF bowler and if I step...

    AMF centres enforcing TBA membership!

So, the matter has been decided in Victoria - UTBA and TBA are now affiliated - we get the best of both worlds, having the membership with our national body, plus the rewards we get from the UTBA - both tournament bowlers and the average 'joe' get benefits from this. Well done in making this...

    AMF centres enforcing TBA membership!

I am glad to see the different conversations my post has bought out amongst the bowling fraternity, which is what I intended to happen. What has been posted is that yes, obviously there is a need to join the TBA so they can keep up the good work of developing tenpin bowling around the...

    AMF centres enforcing TBA membership!

Just wondering what would happen if, say, you played in a social golf group. You know, the ones where a few mates get together and play once a month & have a bbq afterwards? It may be a season thing where there's a few trophies at the end (I, myself have been a member of such a group)? Would...

    AMF centres enforcing TBA membership!

Ouch, let me pull the knives out before I say anything else! I, for one, am all in favour of having just the one governing body, and I am definitely not knocking the efforts Cara is putting into turning the TBA around and making it a more positive organisation (even though some people who dont...

    AMF centres enforcing TBA membership!

Hmmm, I know most bowlers need to be registered with TBA to bowl in tournaments, but what is this stand over tactic to enforce everyday bowlers who bowl at AMF centres to join the more expensive option of the TBA (NSW & Qld excluded). What does everyone think of this??

Another rule clarification - pin off spot

Hi All, This is a question, one that I have looked for in the TBA rules - when you bowl the ball and one of the pins have shifted spot, but has been knocked down by the pin spotter as it is too far out to be picked up, does this pin get restood back in the same spot it was standing when it...

    Sliding pins.... What's the furthest?

My biggest slide was when I'd pushed the first shot wide and missed the head pin, leaving the 1,2,4 standing, then to pick it up (as a righty), hit the 1 pin on the right, pushing it into the 2 pin, then into the 4 pin and having the head pin stand in the 4 pin position...not happy Jan!!

    CONGRATS 300 TO MATT COOK

    Brett ( grinny1 ) Accident...

Hi all, Brett is now out of hospital. The doctors were being over protective with the small infection that he had (thanks heaps!!). Scared the sh*t out of us, thinking it might have been one of those superbugs that take ages to get rid of, if you're lucky!! Not that he's out of the woods...

    Brett ( grinny1 ) Accident...

Just a short note to all who sent their concerns for Brett, thank you. But I am sorry to say that he is back in hospital with an infection. He will be going under the knife today and will be laid up for over a week while the doctors make sure that the infection doesn't take hold. It is a set...

VIC 150 Scores from Keon Park - 300 to Mary Dodds!!

Congratulations Mary...it was a great game to watch and well deserved. It was amazing that you could return to a very high standard of bowling after your break. That 'last second' decision to bowl the 150 really paid off!! Motherhood definitely agrees with you, as we all knew it would...

    looking for a proshop

Kevin, Have you ever thought about purchasing your own ball drilling set-up. Many great ball drillers work out of their garage. This way you would not be restricted around a centre's time table. You can also pick up old balls from some bowling centres to experiment on, without the danger...

    Dunn Shield Rules

Lisa, As Ralph said...if you have played 18 games up until June 30th, and are still a permantent sub for the team by the time the sheild is played, then you are eligible to bowl. Paying or not paying prize fund does not come into the equation. You are a part of a league, that's all that...
