    700 series

Ahr. So sorting out my gear was the easy part, now I have to fix my head? That could take a while :o

    700 series

... I just can't seem to manage it. Shot 698 and 692 in the last month, 698 had no open frames but one low count shot (5!), 692 had an open and I couldn't double when I needed to. How do you keep yourself calm and focused when going for that sort of milestone? :o

Getting the most out of practise games

I generally go and try to work on things that have been annoying me. Inconsistent release, bad balance, missing follow through, bad 10 pin conversion count, whatever. Once I get that sorted, I do what tonx suggests... playing strange lines I don't normally play :) Still working on that part, though!

    Your first ball in 2006

1... I got the 10 pin :o And hurt my ring finger :o And then threw a gutter halfway through my first game of league for the year. Not a great start so far :(

    Visionary violet gargoyle

I dunno that I could use a pink ball, even if it was the best thing ever :o

    The Machuga Flop!!!

He didn't lose, though :p And it's technically not a foul, since he never let go of the ball. He would have won by 1 even if he'd gotten 0 anyway, so meh. Opinion seems to be pretty evenly split between "he's a bloody idiot" and "he rocks" :)

And bad luck to Tim for going all in on a pair of Jacks, only to have the guy next to him get 9-10-J to complete his straight. That had to suck :p

Not everyone would have had to bowl on that pair, actually :) I started on 19, went 19-17-15-13-11-9, so no dry for me (not that I would have minded). Even with the horrible delays, I'll certainly try out again next year if I'm still around. I just hope it's somewhere a bit closer to home :)

    Under 25s

Congratulations to everyone who won some medals, though I don't actually remember most of them :o Sportsperson ------------- Girl: Danielle Elliott 'Boy': Adam Spence (who is aging out, made a speech about getting people to bowl in the tournament, and got a round of applause for the other...

I saw the lane tech guys putting some sort of fluid in the machine around lane 10 (lunch was quick, had nothing to do), not sure if that was oil or cleaner though. Seems a bit strange that they would notice something was wrong, but not go back and check the other lanes.

Oh, for some bonus joy. In the doubles, Renee Porter and, um, Kelly Foreman were called up as the bronze winners, given their medals, posed for photographs...... then Jan goes "oh, I can't count to 3, these girls actually came 4th". That's pretty harsh :(

It was certainly a good weekend, saw a bunch of people I hadn't seen in 6+ years, bowled a bit, had BBQ-cooked-by-the-light-of-a-mobile-phone... but it was so very, very long. At least I set a new Lumines high score (348976!) :)

Oiling machine ran out of oil on 5/6, techs didn't notice until they were on 9/10... didn't bother going back over. Second game of the doubles, two certain people just stopped bowling after 3 frames because the lanes had no oil at all. There's a bunch of other noise about it, but basically we...

software to keep track of scores

Er, I use my own app, because I have nothing better to do. It actually does work ok even if you can't be bothered writing down frame-by-frame scores, too... I'd just have to put in the effort to add user accounts/authentication :p http://bm.madcowdisease.org/user/1

    Congratulations on first 300 game

I'm expected to throw one at Under 25s next weekend now, thanks :p

    Northern suburbs leagues for 2006

Aloha, Currently bowl in a league at Salisbury that I like (18x 5 man teams, ~10 guys with 190+ average), but I would like to bowl in a second league. At least doubles, and kinda limited to Salisbury/Village. I guess I could just ring the centers, but I hate talking to random people on the...

    2006....What are You Bowling In?

Uhh... nothing. I'm too old now :( Now I have to bowl with all the old people.

The New Woodville Bowl - aka "The Phoenix"

Will have to head that way and check it out some time... though it's across the city for me, which makes it a fair trip. And I think they're AMF, so casual games will cost me an arm and both legs :o Anyone know when a tournament is on there? :)

Columbia 300 Columbia Scout 'Reactive' ball

My mother has had one for a month or so, just gone fingertip. It seems quite useful on the conditions we've bowled on so far (ranging from toast to mediumish), though she does throw her 11lb at about 15km/h :)

Other Favourite Ball of All Time

My good ol' Ebonite Blue Wolf, which now lurks in the garage because it can't do much nowadays :(

    Best leave ever?

Left 1-5-7-10 in practise a few hours ago... that's about the strangest pin carry I've ever gotten. Of course, I also left a pair of 4-6s, a 6-7-10, and an 8-10, none of which were through the nose, just a bit high in the pocket. Or X X X (smash, spray, spray) 8-10 (in between the "spray" and...

    Best leave ever?

8-10s off not-in-the-pocket-but-not-"light" hits are my personal monster :o

a ball drillers in great brisbane area

The only driller I know out of those is Rudy, because he used to work at Village Bowl in SA (assuming it's Turoczi). I was pretty disappointed in the last ball he drilled for me, 5-6 years back. Had other more important people in the shop, didn't pay much attention... ended up drilling something...

    SA Junior/Youth Circuit

Yeah, I bowled in the Village one, it seemed decent enough. Couldn't be bothered getting up earlyish and going to Barossa yesterday, though my brother says it was amusingly dry and I would have loved it :)

    SA Junior/Youth Circuit

Aye, it's good that there is a useful tournament series for junior/youth. I know when I was a junior there were the usual Easter/Xmas (no-tap power!) tournaments, state championships, and Intercentres... and that was about it. It's quite a shock going from that to an adult tournament :) Not sure...
