Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

And just what does that have to do with anything that we are discussing here? You are talking about 1 weekend tournament that most of us had no interest in bowling in, with one of our best bowlers on his honeymoon and taking that to actually mean something? You are really searching here aren't...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

"Both open to manipulation for a result". Except the horse has no choice. I don't think the horse picks his starting weight. The horse is manipulated, the bowler does the manipulating! Any cheating done by the horse is through no fault of the horse. Sandbagging bowlers are just flat out...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

No, because as has been mentioned 100 times now, they don't bowl scratch and best of the best doesn't apply! Thanks for the support Rob. Welcome to the elitist snob club! Jan

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Brad, As has been mentioned before, Australia B, Colts or whatever compete with who whoever on equal footing with no handicap involved and no possibility of average tampering. Are you seriously suggesting that cricketers would purposely bat badly or bowl a few extra wides so they can stay in...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Nothing is wrong with that. It is probably even encouraged as long as it isn't in the guise of State Representation. Drew and I suggested that over a week ago. Jan

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Well, I wasn't going to say anymore, but how can I resist answering this! So what is the difference? Age, so what! Your statement scratch is scratch the best of the best that should mean a scratch rep is exactly that. No difference due to age if they are good enough at 15 or 16, 19 0r 22 or...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Well, I'm not the only elitist snob that has commented, but apart from some of the South Australian Contingency, the rest have been pretty quiet. The reasons for this are varied. I know a lot of my fellow Rachuig Bowlers feel the same way about WDV as I do, but as to why they haven't posted, I...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Jeff, Yes. Because they all bowl scratch and there is no potential for sandbagging and abuse. I honestly don't know anything about the disabilities team and how they are selected or even what format they bowl in, so I'm not prepared to comment on them. How can you call WDV the best of...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Brad, Addendum to your Rachuig History facts, Back in those days, any event that had cash prizes was considered professional, whether it was league or a tournament. They quickly realised that this would exclude most of the elite bowlers in the country if they imposed it and scrapped it. I'm...

Out of curiosity, Could you provide a list of these bowlers? Thanks Jan

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

    1. Correct, at least from my perspective. It's all about the shirts. 2. No. I moved to the US in 1991 but the way I read your description, it seems like only bowlers from WA tried out? Is that correct? If so, Hardly an Australian Team. 3. No. Real National Team Shirts are reserved for the...

    Which option is easier

Good arguments on both sides here. I'll revise my opinion slightly and say, for 1 game, it is easier for the 180 average bowler to shoot a 200, but over a series of games, or a season of games, the 230 average bowler will shoot 250 more often. Jan

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

So 16 people attended the "Not so secret" meeting in Melbourne and this was all that they could come up with. I agree with Jeff. A veiled threat of boycotts and non-attendance isn’t going to deter the TBA from its course, nor should it. You claim that TBA is not living up to its mission...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Same old statements, and yet again, one of the main reasons why WDV is so targetted by the Rachuig bowlers. Mick, you're a nice bloke, but you have not "represented" any state or Territory. You have played in a non consequential fun tournament, been falsely issued a State Shirt and been...

    Which option is easier

I say it's easier for the 180 average bowler to shoot 200 but over the course of a 48 week league season, a guy who has averaged 230 for the year will have bowled more 250+ games than the 180 average bowler will have bowled 200+. Thanks George! Cheers Jan

Position on the wearing of shorts in tournaments

Well, it would be up to the Tournament Directors to stipulate, but I think we've pretty much established that they should be tailored shorts. Jan

    Deveer vs Rachuig

If you qualified for the Rachuig Team with a 170 average, theoretically, yes, you would then have the right to say you were a State Team Rep. In all likelihood, they would go to the draft if you weren't in the top 5, but yes. Some would bemoan the lack of depth that allows a 170 average bowler...

    Deveer vs Rachuig

I'm not missing the point at all Max. I know potential, talent and ability play a major part in all this, that's why I said, not everyone gets to be the best. Only a very small minority in any sport get to elite status and represent their states and countries and that's the way it should be...

Position on the wearing of shorts in tournaments

Well, the poll shows that over 80 percent of the bowlers would prefer to wear shorts during tournament play. I hope the tournament directors sit up and take notice. Cheers Jan

    Deveer vs Rachuig

Brad, As usual, you are missing the point entirely. It doesn't matter if it's a different format. How often do any of you mention that. All people see is the State Team shirt that you constantly wear. It's the perception that you present and promote. Oh sure, the fine print says something...

Position on the wearing of shorts in tournaments

Can't say I really enjoyed bowling in the collared shirts and trousers back then either, but I do agree that the A/C never worked back then! How's it going Wendi? Jan

    Deveer vs Rachuig

How is it self-centered? Highlighting the reasons why WDV is getting so much flak and having you prove my points is hardly self-centered. The Winner is always part of the answer And the answer is get rid of WDV. The Loser is always part of the problem Sandbagging to stay eligible for...

    Deveer vs Rachuig

Clem, I've always been willing to help bowlers who are genuinely interested in getting better, however I don't have any formal coaching qualifications so if it's professional coaching you are after, then you should seek it elsewhere. I am more than happy to come and watch you practice, make...

    Deveer vs Rachuig

I think it's pretty obvious that we are talking about the Adult State Team here. I have no problems with a Junior, Youth and Senior State Team. They are the best of that age group. Cheers Jan
