High Score" awards will not be issued during unopposed bowling sessions

If the ball has too much side weight or thumb weight making it illegal, then the whiners in this sport would find some way to blame the ball driller anyway, deny all knowledge of the ball being illegal and cry until their score was acknowledged. I say that half with tongue in cheek but it is a...

High Score" awards will not be issued during unopposed bowling sessions

Totally agree. Pre-Bowl and Post-Bowl honour scores count for nothing but bragging rights. Different conditions, different lanes (usually) and different atmosphere. I shot a 300 pre-bowl a few years back and it never entered my mind that it should've been recognised. There were a few guys from...

    can any 1 help

Hi Julie, It would depend on your age and skill level, but there are some scratch tournaments coming up with both divisions. Check out the TBA website calendar and that should answer most of your questions. http://www.tenpin.org.au/home/ Good Luck Jan

    Belconnen Open

I'd have a look at it if it was scratch on the weekend of 5/6 May. Plenty of time to recover before Arafura! Cheers Jan

Pinpoint - A Game of Skill and Imagination

Jason, You forgot to mention that you only get one shot in the first and last frames, and that if you throw a gutter ball on your first shot in any other frame, you don't get a second ball. At least that's how I remember it. You may want to confirm with Peter. Cheers Jan

How many leagues do you bowl in per week?

When I lived in the US, I bowled 4 to 5 leagues a week, practiced twice a week and bowled tournaments every second weekend on average. Can't afford that here though, so I'm sticking to my league once a week and sporadic practice for now. Cheers Jan

    Ball weight

Nice going in the practice games. Looks like you are getting the accuracy part of your game down nicely. Carry that over into league and your average will continue to improve. Nearly any ball will have more carry potential than a plastic ball. Technology has overwhelmed the sport with choices...

    Ball weight

No worries. White dot's are about as straight as you can get! :-) The hard plastic composition creates very little friction with the lane surface and consequently does not hook or drive through the pins. You will find that the ball deflects a lot and you won't get the carry that you will see...

    Ball weight

Welcome to the wonderful world of bowling Ratter! Heavier ball theoretically gives you more hitting power at the pins, it's a mass x velocity equation, but with the advent of new technology, namely reactive cover stocks, stronger weight blocks, exotic drill patterns and bowler friendly oiling...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Tina, you personally are not an embarrassment because you have a 170 average, the fact that they give you a State Representative shirt to go away and bowl in a handicap tournament is the embarrassing part. As I posted in my original reply to your question, if you were lucky enough to make the...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

I hadn't thought of that Jeff, but you are absolutely correct. They didn't even get 1 years worth of WDV bowlers bother to give them a positive vote. On the 3 main WDV Threads raised in the last few weeks, there were roughly 260 posts. Of these, the most prolific posters were as follows...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Brad, There was nothing simple about the question you tried to pose besides the person posting it. Deciphering your intentions through the other gibberish that preceded it was a waste of time so Thank you Clem for trying to clarify. If the question was so simple, why are YOU thanking Clem...

OK, If anyone can actually make sense out of what Brad just posted, could you please post a translation. As to the semi-coherent question, what are you talking about? What rules? Jan

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

I can't even make sense of half of what you've posted here, but I will answer the 2 questions you posed that are at least somewhat coherent, after I've corrected your spelling and grammar, of course. "is this not just another excuse?" No. It's a comment. I've already admitted we didn't bowl...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Brad, Brad, Brad, Clutching at straws again I see in a pathetic attempt to gain some sort of recognition and acknowledgement. There is a distinct difference between sending away a team that doesn't perform up to it's potential, and sending away a team that isn't competitive. Even you know...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Andrew, A few valid points there. ***It is an increasing fact that a high percentage of elite bowlers do not nominate for Rachuig, thus leaving a gap which is filled in by other bowlers generally of lesser ability.*** You're absolutely right, however, it has been mentioned several times...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Hi Cam! First point of clarification, and the most important. I wasn't having a go at you, I was poking fun at Stormy - Colin Webber. I have no idea who you are, why would I bother? Have you ever bowled in anything noteworthy? If I were however, the only comment I would make, would be to run...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Rob, That was brilliant. While I have been trying to avoid going into personal attacks on anyone, I have to say, that is one of the best lines I have heard in years! Well done! What else can we come up with? "Stormy"- Lot of noise, flashing lights and hot air, with no real substance...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

Hi Angy, I actually bowled a few ABT events when I first moved over to the US is 1991, before my average got too high. They had some interesting rules and methods to try to cope with sandbagging but in the end, accusations of sandbagging, cheating and abuse took it's toll and the popularity...

Should we allow the changes to DeVeer?

You're right. That was an excuse. At the end of the day, we still beat WDV and everyone else on the scratch side. So what's your point? As I recall, it had something to do with us only beating WDV by whatever margin a game on average. So what? That proves one of 2 things. A. We didn't care...
