To answer jessica's question.... I have done a couple of these over here in the states and they have a bunch of balls drilled with a variety of spans, with finger inserts (easily replaced) and screw in thumb slugs in a variety of sizes where the hole is drilled off-center so as it rotates it...

Castaways closed down earlier this year, the largest one in the Vegas area is now the Gold Coast with 72 lanes. Sunset Station in Henderson just broke ground on an expansion which is reported to include a 72 lane centre.

This may be a dumb question, but if the size of the ball is influenced by the temperature of the ball to the extent that it is legal when cold and illegal when warm, is there anything in the rule book that says that the ball size must be measured when the ball is at a certain temperature ...

I seem to remember quite a few years ago in a singles league at Mt Druitt NSW, Geoff Sweeny lost to Chris Batson 299-300. I wasnt there to witness it, but this story went around the centres in the area pretty quick. Can someone confirm this actually happened ?
