The Korean women are in another league. They are so well drilled and repeat the same shot time after time.
The Chinese Taipei ladies are also unreal to watch. Their helicopter bowling action is unique but very effective. The type of pattern doesn't seem to affect them in any way.
I would like to add another view on why I believe that the TBA has brought this ruling in.
The ladies are currently only bowlling in 4 ranked events plus the Australian Masters. Having so few tournaments is not a great preparation for the bowlers who are selected to bowl for Australia overseas...
What started out as an interesting thread has turned into a TBA kicking exercise. Why don't you guys go to the next AGM and voice your concerns. I am sure the TBA can advise of the date and location.
I think you have misunderstood me Matt. The female bowlers can only bowl 4 events that goes towards the female rankings. Any open events that they bowl goes towards the open rankings. This means that a female could win the open ranking.
The 8 pins is only for the ranked events that doesn't have a womens division. The women only have 4 ranked events plus masters. Some females haven't bowled in a ranked event since the maters whereas the men have had three events.
Like most new ideas it needs time to see if its going to be...
Another positive thread that gets hijacked.
The 8 pins was bought in for the good of bowling as a whole. Unfortunity the numbers for females at tournaments are dropping. Having the females bowl in these events is helping with exposing these bowlers to the pressure of bowling against the best...
The Hong Kong government have invested something like six million dollars into a bank account. They then give the money from the interest to sports. I don't know how much bowling gets but being an elite sport it would be looked after.
At the end of the day the question should be was the pattern fair to all players.
I notice that if the scoring in a tournament is low comments are made that the pattern was too hard. If the scoring is high then the pattern is to easy.
So what score is the benchmark for the pattern to be...
Well done to all the bowlers who have been selected for these teams.
A special well done to Bec who had to make a very hard decision and decline the invite to go to Cyprus. All of these bowlers have to fund these trips themselves and it makes it difficult to take take time off work.
I am...
Well done to the winners.
As a spectator on the weekend I found the bowling quite boring to watch as it was a strike feast. It appeared that all the bowler had to do was bowl it down the outside and the ball would hit around pocket and the pins would fall over. It reminded me of a 20/20...
