THE new Wagga Bowl will open at 10am today, giving the city a new entertainment and recreation venue and satisfying the craving of local tenpin fans denied a venue for the past decade or so.

Final touches on the $5.5 million venue off Trail Street were completed on Monday in readiness for today's expected rush of customers.
Manager Chris Cogley said he was expecting a queue at the front door before opening time, judging by the interest he had observed recently while working at the venue.
"I would say we have had 600 to 1000 people press their faces against the glass door," Mr Cogley said.

Customer demand will determine how long the Wagga Bowl will operate today, but general opening hours will be 10am to 9pm Sundays to Wednesdays and 10am to late on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Featuring 16 lanes, the venue also has arcade games, such as Daytona USA 2 and table hockey, an American-style diner, a children's function centre and corporate bar area.
"This is a state-of-the-art bowling alley, it's one of the best in the country," Mr Cogley said.
The centre has created jobs for 30 people aged 15 to 40.
Mr Cogley said league games were expected to start in February or March.
"We have had a lot of interest from people wanting us to start up the leagues," Mr Cogley said.
"People who use to play (in the old bowling alley in Tompson Street) have been going to Albury and Wangaratta."
Two schools have also expressed interest in offering ten pin bowling as a sport.
Mr Cogley said he had been overwhelmed by the support shown by Wagga people for the drawcard.
"I come from Melbourne, and I have never seen anything like it," Mr Cogley said.
"The spirit and enthusiasm people have shown for Wagga Bowl has been touching."
Gone from the old bowling alley are black-only bowling balls; bowlers now will use balls with vibrant colours, such as orange, green, blue and yellow.

As part of the family-friendly design of the venue, lane bumpers will ensure children under 10 don't see their ball rolling down a gutter instead of smashing into the pins.
The centre has been built next to the Forum 6 cinema complex on the site of the former Koala pre-school.
The development has not been without controversy, with Trail Street neighbours worried about the effect of the development on their lifestyle and resistance to the tearing down of the much-loved pre-school, which has been relocated to a new building in Murray Street

the story was pulled from the online local paper , its very much aimed at the social bowler or families looking at a way to entertain themselves to get them in, with regards to promoting it as an sporting venue to attract league/tournament bowlers maybe they are of the opinion, " build it and they will come".
