I would like to quickly amend the Open Masters. Checkin is actually Sunday not Saturday as stated on the 1st Entry Forms

Apologies

Just thought i would take this opportunity to make sure all Qld Junior and Youth bowlers receive the following information concerning the Qld State Training Squads - which will be operating in NQ and SQ this year.

Your State Association The Tenpin Bowling Associatoin of Qld (TBAQ) have formally provided sponsorship and specialist sponsorship for all higher average Qld bowlers who would like to take part in the official State Training Squad. The ball company is providing shirts, and bowler kits, the venues have provided part sponsorship through low game prices and for 2 days bowling and technical support TBAQ are offering all this for only $140 per player. Lane fees alone cost more than this for two days playing so we are providing excellent value. Even those players currently sponsored will get something out of the program that is planned.

Some of the offers to bowlers interested in being part of the QSTS is an opportunity to take part in a ball review - (not available to those not sponsored by ball companies usually) actually experiment with different lay outs, on WTBA current lane conditions and patterns. State Training Squad (STS) bowlers will be able to brainstorm with previous international Australian representatives (who are Queenslanders), ball company representatives, and Australian team officials (Coaches) including the national Coach Chris Batson. Our program is more like a bowlers expo - all you would like to know about bowling and we provide the people to answer those questions and we provide the lane conditions for you to try out - for as long as you wish.

TBAQ would like to offer this to around 150 - 200 bowlers around the State this year - TBAQ received 20 nominations in the first week so I would advise all bowlers to nominate via the TBAQ website asap (we have provided a link to nominate www.tbaq.org.au) Scroll down an enormous front page on the TBAQ website and find State Training Squad TBAQ are including stand out talented Juniors (over 170 average only) and Ladies over 170 and Men over 180 average - Youth, Adult and Seniors who meet this criteria are welcome. The STS is for those who aspire to State or Australian teams either as a long term goal or short term goal in the case of Youth bowlers. TBAQ have identified that there are a few highly talented juniors coming up and have asked the Junior and Youth committees to put their names forward to be included in the STS in the year 2011. This year TBAQ will be operating on a self nomination system but will reserve the right to issue invitations to bowlers after they nominate if we get large numbers of one category of bowler. TBAQ would like to have a minimum of 10 boys and 10 girls from Junior and Youth ranks both from North Qld and South Qld. Committees will be asked in 2011 to forward names from roll offs or development camps of those who have a desire to be in an Australian Squad in the future.

2010 STS schedule:
Dates are SQ March 13th & 14th AMF Mt Gravatt lanes
NQ July 3rd & 4th Kirwan Bowl Townsville
SQ tentative date 28/29th August or early September (to be advised)

It is expected to have 60 bowlers in each session - TBAQ will accept the first persons booked - if late bookings for the March program enter after mid February shirts cannot be ordered in time to be received for the March program and always those booked in first will have preference.

NQ Bowlers will need to have their places booked prior to mid May.

Book on line and do not be disappointed.

I would like to clarify the increase in the Entry Fees for this event.

Contrary to rumours the prize fund is being directly returned to the bowlers in forms of prize money for the higher divisions whilst being presented in trophies or medallions to that of the lower divisions.

We as a new committee were endeavouring to increase the payouts of previous years, and rewarding the younger and future bowlers of our state with prizes that they can keep forever (trophies/medallions).

NOT LINING THE POCKETS OF THE SOUTH QUEENSLAND STATE TEAM like was suggested to me today by a particular assistant manager.

I would actually like to congratulate the Junior State Team on their fundraising efforts and that of their parents, coaches, managers and team supporters. This network of people have continued to raise funds towards their trip since August last year and are doing an outstanding job. WELL DONE TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They as a group are minimising what they have to pay the honest way.

Thanks
Rachael
