Friday 26th July – Qualifying
A Squad – Limited to 28 Bowlers
6.00pm – A Squad check-in and briefing
6.30pm – A Squad bowl 12 games
Saturday 27th July – Qualifying
B Squad – Limited to 52 bowlers
8.00am – B Squad check-in and briefing
8.30am – B Squad bowl 12 games
Lanes washed and oiled prior to C Squad
C Squad – Limited to 52 Bowlers
2.00pm – C Squad check-in and briefing
3.00pm – (or earlier) C Squad bowl 12 games
Sunday 28th July <Stage 2 (Men), Matchplay (Men & Women) and Stepladder (Men)>
8.00am –Top 39 Men check-in and bowl 6 games
Lanes re-oiled before Matchplay
11.00am – Top 16 Men bowl 15 games matchplay
12.30pm – Top 8 Women check-in
1.00pm – Top 8 Women bowl 7 games matchplay and one positional round
3.00pm –Top 5 Stepladder (Men)
Match 1: 5th, 4th and 3rd play a one game match
Match 2: Winner of Match 1 versus 2nd Qualifier
Match 3: Winner of Match 2 versus Top Qualifier
(TQ has right of repercharge if required)
4.45pm – Prize presentations
FORMAT
Stage 1 – Qualifying
All bowlers (Male and Female divisions) will bowl 12 games in one appearance
in their allocated squad.
Stage 2 (Men’s Division only)
The Top 39 men from Stage 1 qualifying will bowl 6 games with pinfall carried
over from Stage 1.
Matchplay
Men
– The Top 16 bowlers from Stage 2 qualifying will bowl one full
round of matchplay with 30 bonus pins awarded per win and 15 bonus pins per
draw. Pinfall from stages 1 and 2 will carry over.
Women
– The Top 8 bowlers from Stage 1 qualifying will bow l one full
round of matchplay and a positional round with 30 bonus pins awarded per win
and 15 bonus pins per draw. The pinfall from Stage 1 will carry over.
Placings for Women’s divisions will be decided at the completion of matchplay.
– After the completion of Matchplay (men), the Top 5 bowlers will
play in a Stepladder Final. All pinfall is dropped for the Stepladder Final.
NSW Open 2002 TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS
1.This is a scratch tournament that is open to all bowlers who are current TBA members. All games will be bowled in accordance with TBA rules and regulations.
2.No bowler is permitted more than one entry in this event.
3.Check-in and briefing is detailed in the tournament schedule on day one only.
4.Bowlers must wear acceptable attire. jeans, tracksuits, collarless T-Shirts
or shorts (men only) are not permitted.
5.Should a tie occur for 39th (men) or 8th (women) after Stage 1, or 16th
(men) after Stage 2, or 5th (men) and 1st (women) after Matchplay, a one game playoff will decide the position.
6.Unsporting conduct will not be tolerated.
7.The Tournament Director reserves the right to check any bowler’s equipment at any time. Any equipment found to breach TBA regulations will result in
disqualification with no claim on any prize money.
8.Bowlers are not permitted to smoke whilst actually competing in this tournament.
9.Any matters not covered by these conditions will be decided by the Tournament Director whose decision will be final. National Tournament Director – Tony Goodwin
