Gold for Australia in Thailand!!!!

So proud of you Sam xxx congratulations on such a well deserved win... you are a "SUPERSTAR"

Also sending my congrats to Sam for this great win ... been unable to make direct contact with Sam or team officials in BKK, but here's the story I've distributed to Illawarra Mercury and national media via AAP ...

Cooley Wins All-Events Gold12th World Youth Bowling Championship

Australia bagged Gold at the 12th World Youth Bowling Championship in Thailand overnight.
20 year-old Sam Cooley from Mt Warrigal on the New South Wales Illawarra coast finished strongly in the second block of the Teams event yesterday to win the first medal for Australia in the sport’s ultimate competition for youth bowlers.
The All-Events is an accumulation of individual scores in Singles, Doubles and Teams events and the win propels Cooley into tomorrow’s prestigious Masters event as top seed.
With a 3960 pinfall and average of 220 over 18 games, Cooley outclassed America’s Marshall Kent by a slim 9 pin margin, with Daniel Fransson from Sweden a mere 6 pins behind Kent. The win alleviated the disappointment of missing the cut to the top 4 in the Singles event, following a tie with Kent in qualifying that Championship regulations enabled the American to advance ahead of Cooley to the final rounds.
The World Youth Championship is held every two years and bowlers from 48 countries are represented in this year’s Championship at Blu-O Bowling Centre in Bangkok. Male and female bowlers 21 years and under are competing at the 10-day Championship, and Cooley’s All-Events success will rank him as one of the favourites to medal again in the Masters.

Sorry, formatting got a bit messy with above posting - looked OK in original I circulated :)

Congratulations Sam, we all at the Orange Tenpin Bowl are so happy to hear the news of your Gold, very proud of our Aussie.
Good luck in the Masters.

Just to let you all know Chris Batson the coach shaved off his moustache because Australia won gold, if Sam wins masters, Chris will shave his head. Hope chris enjoys the last few days with hair on his head :p

Sam just jumped into first in the last game of matchplay. To play fourth seed Chris Via (USA) in the semis. Just two games away from the masters gold.

Bring it home Sam!

Stupid format to decide the winner.... Useless trivia for you that not one of the single top seeds after qualifying in singles, doubles and teams went on to win the gold medal.... Let's hope Sam turns that ridiculous statistic around
