With a tri-matchplay system and a 50 / 25 / 0 bonus system winning games has never been more important. Whilst I have never heard of a 50 bonus for a win, I'm willing to give it a crack and see how much over I can shoot for 7 games. :D

George,

The Queensland Ladies Classic used this format for the first time in 2002 and had a few advantages - with only 7 games to be bowled matchplay but with 15 bowlers making a cut - GOOD VALUE!

It made for a very exciting but not too drawn out matchplay segment, as the bowlers really busted their g...s to get even 25 bonus pts. for 2nd place. Not too boring for spectators either....

We had a really close finish in 2002 with 2nd nearly overtaking the winner in the very last match.

The bonus pins are hilarious to see written down - 50 for 1st, 25 for 2nd, 0 for 3rd....37.5pts. for 1st place draw.....12.5pts. for 2nd place draw.....and 25pins for triple tie........a scorer's nightmare!!

Hope things work out for the Classic this year also, to prove that is
a viable alternative to tried and true formats.....will let you know!!!
