2004 World Bowler of the Year, 22 year-old Jason Belmonte from Orange, was invited to present two of the Awards at last week's Australian Sports Awards....Jason also was photographed with swimming legend, Dawn Fraser, OBE.
Orange bowler, Jason Belmonte, achieved another milestone when he was invited to present two Awards at the 2005 Australian Sports Awards last night. Conducted by the nation’s peak body for sport - the Confederation of Australian Sport (CAS) - the Australian Sport Awards are the premier sporting awards in Australia.
The gala event, televised nationally by SBS, recognizes excellence across all sports and was staged in the Ballroom of the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour.
Belmonte rubbed shoulders with some of Australia’s best-known sporting heroes, including swimming legend Dawn Fraser, OBE, senior Politicians and industry leaders at a VIP Function prior to the start of the official ceremony.
A highlight of the Awards is the presentation of the Dawn Fraser Award which celebrates not only achievement on the international stage, but also an individual’s contribution to the Australian community – this year’s winner was Olympic gold-medalist, Grant Hackett.
Congratulations Belmo from all of us at Totalbowling.
