Australian Sports Commission Funding

Guess Who

Just wondering what your thoughts are regarding to the loss of Goverment funding for our beloved sport (TBAL), yes thats right it has been a common topic at this weeks Junior Nations and many people have stated this could be the demise of our sport tenpin bowling.

What are your thoughts and what can we do?

This is not good for the sport but on the other hand many other sports don't have businesses making money on the sport, e.g; swimming, athletics, hockey, basketball, softball etc, we have Companies making lots of money, so we should be one of the best funded sports in the country, if only they will put thier hands in thier pocket, as the future of bowling depends on it.

JMHO.

How does your comment fit in with the TBAL comment on their website as quoted by Alex Popov Chief Executive Officer

"Australian Sports Commission Support

The Australian Sports Commission has reconfirmed its support of Tenpin Bowling Australia by committing Sport Development and High Performance funding to our sport for the next four years. In previous years we have focussed mainly on the area of High Performance and spent less time and money on Sport Development. As we are not a medal sport in either the Commonwealth or Olympic Games we were not eligible for the same level of High Performance funding that we had received in previous years. However, we have received a sizeable increase in our Sport Development funding which will see us introduce programs that will aim to increase bowler numbers and sport participation and thus benefit our industry as a whole. There will, of course, be a number of operational changes implemented that will affect the historical way our sport has been run. Information of the changes will be posted on this website on the What's New page. If anybody wishes to discuss this matter with me, please do so either by email or phone and I will endeavour to answer any questions you may have regarding this change of direction.

Doesn't it mean that there will be a few changes, not the demise of the sport?
