Hey

Anyone thinking of partcipating in the Australian Corporate Games that will be held in Melbourne 23-25 November?

Tenpin bowling is one of the sports!

I went to this in 2003 in Melbourne, was great fun and heaps of participants.

Highly suggest competing if your employer decides to participate.

I actually won the Singles in 2003 aswell haha. I beat Brendan Duthie.

I also seem to recall that Trotts was a part of a teams entry.

Format
Singles and Team squad results are determined over one 3 game series
based on total pinfall plus handicap.
Handicap is based on 90% of the difference between the average and 200.
Average is calculated from the 3 games bowled, upon completion of play
League average is not applicable
Ties will be broken using the AMF Moorabbin Bowl tie breaking system

I don't quite understand the handicapping method. If I'm understanding it correctly, then I can't see the point in having a handicap, the highest scratch bowler would be the winner anyway.
Is anyone able to explain it a bit better ?

Number of balls bowled, divided by the number of pins knocked down... Minus the number of spanners in a Sidchrome toolkit ;)

90% of 200
Standard handicapping system
What don't you understand??

I agree with Darren; if the handicap is 90% of 200 and the handicap for the tournament is based on what you've bowled in the tournament, then the bowler with the highest scratch score for the tournament will win.
Why bother with a handicap?
Unless of course the scores are within a couple of pins, then the rounding down and the 90% make it a bit interesting and the tie breaker may come into effect
