Some great scores at Aspley this weekend after a series of tough Tour Stops - no 300's were bowled as anyone who succeeded had to pay the Tour $25 to help in our fundraising - plenty of near misses and also plenty of good humour .... thank you bowlers!
Shane Hurst was a convincing winner for the Balls heading off Toowoomba's Cory Knowles and the much improved Duane Gilliland in 3rd place. Shane fully deserves his win as he is an honest bowler and has supported the Tour for many years. Paid to 22nd place (Jason Gambier)
Brendan Meads finished only 5 pins ahead of 'Looby Carry' to take out Balls Scr. with 238.7 which also put him in a winning position in the Scratch Pool - 19 bowlers for a Pool of $380.
Shirley Johnston who has been another stalwart for the Puffs and a frustrated Ipswich bowler, was very excited with her 6 pin win over Madeline Kemp who shows great promise for one so young. Shirley's last game of 224 really pushed her over the line with Gold Coaster Katrina Carr taking 3rd place. Sharyn Crouchen in 11th place was the last of the $$$.
A real 'blast from the past' and still a champion, Barb. Richmond topped the Puffs Scratch wit a great 216.9 to finish ahead of Alicia Melton 215.4 and Bek Meads on 207.4 in the Scratch Puffs.
Some great games bowled with the highest Barb. 269 for the Puffs and the ever consistent casher, Darryl Alford with 280 for the Balls.
A very enjoyable weekend for most and thanks must go to Aspley 10pin Bowl and staff (food is great as is the XXXX), to the TEAM as usual for their hard work and play and a special thanks to Jak Mac for the Jim Beam for our raffles .... and to the most important people who keep the Tour alive - the BOWLERS. Hope the newbies will continue on also - good to see an ex-Vic, who shall remain nameless in Qld. bowling attire!
