All wide bay bowlers please read

Here is the payout for The Rum City Classic. Please note that this year there is no $250 for first woman, $150 for second woman and so on. It was decided at the Wide Bay meeting last year that it was far to complex to work out at each tournament.

It was also noted that one or more women had finished in the cash in every event last year. The women that are competing for the first few spots are good enough to compete outright with the men. The small extra payout at the bottom is to try and encourage women to still bowl.

Unfortunately at the time that Bundy put out their entry form they where running short of time. A revised payout was going too posted a few weeks ago but Peter has been very busy with the new attractions at the bowl and Emma has been unwell.

We all apologize for any inconveniences this may caused.

I think you will find that Bundaberg Bowl may need to honour the entry form as originally stated...Either that or they will have 10-15 very unhappy Ladies who have paid a deposit on the original entry form payout...

Just my thoughts

If we go by the form the ladies will also have to chose either the mens payout or the ladies payout as that is what the form states. I don't think the ladies will want to do that. I think the payout looks alot better then any other tournment.
Just my thoughts

Could not agree more!!

While I agree that the women may have finished in the money on several occassions I can only recall one time when the highest placed lady was in a position to win more than the $250 that was advertised and this was in Gympie when Alicia ran 3rd.

I have no issues with the circuit doing what they see fit but to advertise and then change prizefunds at the last minute is extremely poor form. This is what happened at the Melbourne Cup last year and there was a lot of unhappy people vowing never to return.

As Mark stated if it is on the entry form that the women choose the prizefund then let them do it. At least they have made a decision based on all the facts.

It must me remembered that some women, (maybe all) have paid deposits, accommodation etc based on the prizefund advertised which they have come to expect based on the last couple of years of the circuit. Quite rightly too given there was no information suggesting a change to womens payout but rather confirmation of the payout on the advertised 2009 entry form.

This needs to be sorted out quickly or the circuit will lose credibility.

The revised payout has proven to be unpopular, so here is a new payout based on the entry form.

Women will be asked to nominate which prize fund they are playing for at check in as per the enrty form.

Ladies payout (this based on current entries)

1st $250
2nd $185
3rd $170
4th $150

If the number of women competing for the ladies payout falls the payouts will be revised accordingly.

5th $375

I think it should be done at check in. There has been a squad added since and it finishes on Saturday night. it will also be easier to find out what squad has been chosen at check in rather the chasing up the women Saturday afternoon.
