I am delighted to announce the long running DOUG BEAR MEMORIAL CLASSIC is being conducted at Mentone Bowl on Saturday night 3RD SEPTEMBER 2011.
Doug Bear was one of the original characters of tenpin bowling in Victoria as a bowler and of course with his Bear Factory Trophy shop. There would not be an original bowling centre in Melbourne that did not have some dealings with Doug.
This tournament is in his memory and I am very proud to have it at Mentone Bowl, which along with Moorabbin Bowl was Doug's home away from home and now Doug Bear "junior" is competing at Mentone.
Sponsorhip from the UTBA and Mentone Bowl sees the 5 person Team event have a prize purse of over $6000 and is the highest prize fund in the Doug Bear history.
Total Prize Fund $6275 (based on 20 teams)
1st place is $2000. Payout down to 7th place receiving $375. High Game Scratch & Handicap (TEAM) win $200 each.
Entry Fee: $275 ($55 per bowler)
Handicap of 90% of 220
