FRILINGOS WINS 2009 SUN CITY OPEN
Congratulations to George Frilingos on winning the 2009 Cavalier Homes Sun City Open in Townsville on the weekend.
George pretty much dominated the tournament from game 1 of qualifying, and although starting slow in the matchplay rounds, he came home like a steam train to win by 200 pins including a 297 game in game 14. He finished with a matchplay average of 235.
In a close run to the finish Stephen Hunt finished in 2nd just 7 pins ahead of Graham Allen, with Shaun Dunn finishing strongly for fourth.
It was a quality field that included Brandon Qualischefski, Carl Bottomley, Chrisian Purdue, Michael Little, Dale Fitzgerald, Andrew Drew and Ashley Clarke.
In the women's division Rebecca Buchanan was the winner from Larissa Nastasi and Sharon Lovegrove.
The tournament was great this year with 71 entries and it was awesome to have people travelling from as far away as Sydney to compete
This years calcutta was also a huge success with the total prize fund after the auction exceeeding $2400. The lucky people that snared George Frilingos walked away with a cool $1359, which made them very happy
