Channel 10 - Totally Wild - bowling segment

There are some people working very hard to push the Inter School Challenge and Roll 'n' Strike programs in schools. As an extension to the in-school program there is now also a Roll 'n' Strike league in-centres. All kids receive certificates and vouchers as part of the program. Bowling...

Channel 10 - Totally Wild - bowling segment

No money was spent by anybody associated with bowling on this segment. It's Channel 10's program, their idea and they wrote the script. The absolute stubborn negativity of some people in the face of such a positive really leaves me wondering why I bother. I thought more than twice before...

Channel 10 - Totally Wild - bowling segment

To help get juniors excited about the sport of bowling, the filming of a bowling segment was recently negotiated with the QLD producers of Channel 10's prominent kids TV show, Totally Wild. One of Australia's top bowlers was interviewed and gave some pointers for the kids on how to perfect...

This is the thread to read - open invitation to (and from) the Cashies League

Hi all, After some discussion with the league, as part of a planned Australia Day "league appreciation evening", management of AMF Kedron Bowl have agreed to further extend a $3 game rate (equivalent to staff rate) to Cashies league bowlers, their family and friends, and any other bowlers who...

Discuss: How much skill and luck are involved in bowling a 300?

Firstly, I agree that Vaughan White is a genius. I've been lucky enough to have some coaching with him and my game really improved as a result, almost overnight. Secondly, once they can teach a machine to get the "feel" of a lane, then it will bowl a 300 game. Finally, from experience lofting...

Another rule clarification - pin off spot

Yes you can ask but we won't do it. :D If the pin was not knocked over by the machine (e.g. it successfully performed an offspot/out of range cycle) then it must be played where it was left by the bowler's first ball, and any deadwood cleared.

    Scoring/Rule clarification - machinery malfunction

A is correct although what can tend to happen is that bowlers don't watch their pins carefully enough and a late pinfall occurs, so they falsely ask for a restand "because the scoring said there was a 10 pin there".

Another rule clarification - pin off spot

This is correct and the general rule we use at a centre level.

    300

I have it on good authority that the 300 was his 3rd in that league at the Mt. Gravatt lanes.

Well done Carl. It is always a pleasure to watch you bowl.

    When things go right...

It is always nice to get appreciated by bowlers. One thing many bowlers (particularly up here in Queensland) don't realise is just how much of an effect humidity and temperature have on the playability of lanes (as the surface temperature inside invariably changes and alters the viscosity of...
