3 more then 4 times a day. hehe it gets boring at work.. lol

4/ lately well over 4 but over all maybe once or twice a week

5/ i answered above so nothing :)

6/ Really all the below

To feel part of the community
Too look for ideas on products
To be kept informed about important issues.
For upcoming events.
To have your say.

7/ All of the above

8/ Very high

9/
A/ main forum/QLD
B/ undecided. Main for the information in it can learn many things from reading it. and QLD(combined with twin tour and other QLD tourney sections) cause keeps me upto date on what is happening in my state whats on and how to get there :)

10/
International news - Yes always interesting to hear about overseas stuff. especially when aussie bowlers are there.
Live scores - dont think you can really cover much more live scores. already in for the main aussie tourneys
Interviews - Yes gives an insight into how the top bowlers thing act and react to certain things,
Ball reviews - Yes cause i dont know alot about balls and reading other peoples reviews gives me an idea on what they do and who they are suited for
Other - everything lol

11/ um i dunno really its tough. there isnt anything i can think of now. maybe some more interactive bowling stuff.. lol dont know what exactly

12/ nothing different from what the moderators already do.. everything is looked after any out of line responces are quickly dealt to and everything runs smoothly(except for server some times) so i think i would change nothing.(If it aint broke dont fix it)

13/ No everything has its place. maybe certain forums are under used but they are all needed

14/ Yes indeed. junoir youth and senoir threads and adults haeve everything.

Re: A survey for you all.

1/ How did you find out about TotalBowling.
Google search
2/ How would you rate TotalBowling on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best.\
8.5 as there are some areas that never get used... ie. chat
3/ On how many separate occasions do you look at TotalBowling with the week.
More than 4 times.
4/ How many times in a week would you post on TotalBowling.
Once
5/ If you answered never to the above question, why and what would change for you to post.
Although I do post, the reason why some people don't post might be due to some of the other posters who attack their opinions...
6/ For what reason do you come to or post on TotalBowling.
All of the above
7/ Which statements most closely describe your opinion of this website.
It is a good source of information
It takes a serious approach to news and events
It keeps me in touch with what is happening in our sport
The website is where the issues are raised and we can actually discuss these things. The bowling centre is not exactly the best place to air concerns now is it?
Some bowling centres are very insular organisations;) so it is good to see what is happening to the sport as a whole, and what other bowler opinions are on the issues that really matter
8/ How do you rate the quality of information on this site?
Very high
9/ Thinking about sections on the site, answer the following two part question.
A/ Which section of the forum do you recall reading recently, example main forum, the lounge etc.
Main Forum
B/ which was your favorite section of those you read.
I like reading and contributing to various threads that are relevant at the time - it is interesting to see what other bowlers really think once they are outside of the bowling centre;)
10/ Which of the following would you like to see more on the site.
International news
Ball reviews
There are so many balls on the market and it would be great if more people would post their experiences with each bowling ball they own... as everyone knows - it's how you use it that counts:)
11/ If you could change one thing about the site what would it be.
Integrate the chat into the forum more - it seems to sit at the top of the screen and nobody seems to click there.
12/ If you were a moderator for a day, what would be one of the things you would do.
I would move the chat screen to run alongside the forum in the form of a scrolling text box where all users can chat to each other once they have signed in. I don't think many people use the chat in its present location.
13/ Is there anything on the forum that you see as useless and shouldn’t be on the forum as it is a waste of space.
It all is there for a reason, but as I said, the chat is not being used in its present form so maybe consider my above suggestion:)
14/ Do you think that we cater for all ages with this site.
Yes

10/ Which of the following would you like to see more on the site.

International news
Live scores
Interviews
Ball reviews
All of the above, but we'd also like to see interviews with total bowling members ie: Bumpers, Juniors, Youth, Adult, Seniors and Centre Staff. It would be very interesting to just get a personal insight into everyday people. There would be some young people who wouldn't dare approach an older person for a chat, but would love to read about them & their interests.

You could pick your person and interview them about not only bowling but also personal achievments, favourite food, colour, T.V. show or even if they have pets. People love to read about other people and especially people they know. You never know you may find you have more in common with people you don't even know. The Bumpers and Juniors would also love to be interviewed and to read about their friends.

11/ If you could change one thing about the site what would it be.

The Avatars, it's about time we had some more downloads to choose from and some funkier smilies :D

12/ If you were a moderator for a day, what would be one of the things you would do.

Teach people where to put capitals and also spelling and punctuation.

13/ Is there anything on the forum that you see as useless and shouldn’t be on the forum as it is a waste of space.

No not really Because what we think is crap someone else may really enjoy. The old rule goes "If you're not interested, then DON'T read it"

14/ Do you think that we cater for all ages with this site.

Yes! However it would be good to see some activities for the younger children.

Great post Kellie, maybe you could also add a suggestion/comment section to one of the forums where people could make suggestions or post comments for the administrators to peruse.

Happy reading
Rachel

Hey Kel,

In light of the posts in the QLD Forum, perhaps a comedy section would be good. It can be run by Ronnie!!!!

Dont know yet. The site is good enough as it is.

12/ If you were a moderator for a day, what would be one of the things you would do.

Fix the "location filter" on the Centres page.

Create an archive folder for old articles - I have never had to browse past the first 3 pages in a forum and only once in a while I need to do a search on something.

13/ Is there anything on the forum that you see as useless and shouldn’t be on the forum as it is a waste of space.

Re: A survey for you all.

1/ How did you find out about TotalBowling.
Internet search as I was intending to visit Adelaide for bowling competition and holiday.
2/ How would you rate TotalBowling on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best.
8.5 Always room for improvement, saying that this is the best "Tenpin Bowling" site I have come across.
3/ On how many separate occasions do you look at TotalBowling with the week.
At least 4 times a week.
4/ How many times in a week would you post on TotalBowling.
Once, if I feel I have something to say...Have used the PM facility a lot more seeking information.
5/ If you answered never to the above question, why and what would change for you to post.
Not Applicable
6/ For what reason do you come to or post on TotalBowling.
As in Question One, Found the site whilst searching the internet looking for info relating to bowling tournament in Adelaide this coming March.
Members of the site have supplied almost all my needs from Accommodation, cost of taxis to the normally found league conditions at the Cross Roads, Adelaide.
The members of this site take their bowling seriously, but with fun and humour. But if something is wrong, just wait for the tidal wave of posts.
A lot of the issues faced in Australia are similar to those in the UK, so in that sense it is current and relevant to me. I believe this is why you have growing number of overseas members.
7/ Which statements most closely describe your opinion of this website.
All the above.
8/ How do you rate the quality of information on this site?
Very high
9/ Thinking about sections on the site, answer the following two part question.
A. Main,Bowlers interviews, Coaching Library, tech Talk, Lounge, SA local
B. Main
10/ Which of the following would you like to see more on the site.
International news, Good threads on the Weber Cup recently
Coaching. Maybe one of your published coaches, could put regular posts from beginner thro to advanced. Don't know if GeorgeF is a coach, but he does appear to know what he is talking about.
Ball reviews. The makers are hardly going to say anything bad about their products
11/ If you could change one thing about the site what would it be.
Chat room.. Very under used, tried numerous times, got lonely. Used it once after sending a PM to a member asking him to go to the Chat room. It was good and fast, but if its not being used, you may as well lose it.
12/ If you were a moderator for a day, what would be one of the things you would do.
Not a lot, you guys seem to have the job down pretty well, frankly I wonder sometimes were you get your ideas from, great job
13/ Is there anything on the forum that you see as useless and shouldn’t be on the forum as it is a waste of space.
Chatroom again.
14/ Do you think that we cater for all ages with this site.
Definitely

Re: A survey for you all.

1/ How did you find out about TotalBowling.
Google search

2/ How would you rate TotalBowling on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best.
7

3/ On how many separate occasions do you look at TotalBowling with the week.
Possibly once or twice. Sometimes not at all. I used to log on much more frequently.

4/ How many times in a week would you post on TotalBowling.
Never (hardly ever)

5/ If you answered never to the above question, why and what would change for you to post.
I used to find the attitude expressed in some of the posts was quite intimidating. Not sledging, not passionate, but intimidating. This is not the case in most of the posts, but it was frequent enough to stop me from posting, and resulted in my accessing the TotalBowling website less frequently.

Occasionally when I felt I could contribute to a discussion, I sent a “Personal Message”. I did this to overcome the need to “post”, and reduce the possibility that I would then be “shot down in flames”.

I don’t believe that this website caters for your average “league” bowler, and certainly not for families/novices interested in taking up bowling as a sport.

A large proportion of Australians have access to the Internet – and I don’t see why TotalBowling can’t include some general, fairly basic information designed for families, novices, and your “average League bowler”. They can certainly find some of this information by using a general search engine, but why not attract them to this site?

6/ For what reason do you come to or post on TotalBowling.
To be kept informed about important issues in bowling, and to find out how members of my bowling centre are going in competitions.

7/ Which statements most closely describe your opinion of this website.
Whilst it provides some information as to what is happening in the sport, the most important thing is that it provides a venue for feedback from bowlers within Australia.

8/ How do you rate the quality of information on this site?
Average – I think it is missing some input from the most senior parts of the organisation/TBA

9/ Thinking about sections on the site, answer the following two part question.

A/ Which section of the forum do you recall reading recently, example main forum, the lounge etc.
Victoria, Main Forum

B/ Which was your favorite section of those you read.

Information about Competitions & Results – eg Country Cup

10/ Which of the following would you like to see more on the site.
Live scores

Ball reviews
More general coaching information (perhaps a monthly or weekly article on a specific aspect of bowling)
Sections for novices/families – general information about the sport, indicative costs, types of ball, general tips, where to find out about leagues or “fun” competitions

11/ If you could change one thing about the site what would it be.
Encourage novices, families, and general league bowlers to access the site – by providing sections focused at their level

12/ If you were a moderator for a day, what would be one of the things you would do.
I think you are doing a good job. Congratulations on deciding to provide this survey. Given my concerns about posting, I hesitated before contributing … but as you were genuinely seeking feedback, it seemed only fair to provide it.

Having said that, would it be possible to send a monthly newsletter? Perhaps this could include some general information about forthcoming competitions/results, a ball review, and the monthly coaching article (refer above)?

13/ Is there anything on the forum that you see as useless and shouldn’t be on the forum as it is a waste of space.
No

14/ Do you think that we cater for all ages with this site.
Yes – all ages, but not all levels of ability.

It was a tie, between

Finspin and The Reggae.

We have decided that The Reggae's will get the fuel voucher, and we will be sending Finspin one of our total bowling shirts, so he can wear in London.

Congrats to all that entered the comp, it was great to get feed back on the site, weather good or bad, it lets us as mod's know where we need to improve and where we are doing well.

Thanks to all that voted I am sure the winners thank you as well.

Hey all,

Thanks for the votes and thanks to the admin staff for putting up the prize.

Congrats to Finspin on his Total Bowling polo shirt. Hope you wear it proudly and we may get some more "Pommies" on board.

Well done and thanks again
Brad and Rachel

Thank you all those who voted for me, look forward to wearing the shirt.
Special thanks the staff of this site.
I'm sure that your overseas membership will grow and grow.
Look forward to seeing some of the members in Adelaide in March.

Again thank you all
Alan Hanafin
