Have looked up what an aggressive layout before but am still struggling to understand it can someone please tell me in simple words what it means thanks.

Very mysterious and extraordinarily hard to understand, but, here it is in simplification. It means that you, your coach and your pro-shop operator must discuss where the finger holes, the thumb hole and (the balance hole, if required) are to be drilled in the bowling ball of your choice so as to give you a greater degree of powerful, vigorous striking impression.
